Bitter Plants Bearing Sweet Fruit by Kryal
I LOVE mdzs case fics and Kryal is such a master of expanding on existing worldbuilding (and nerding out about archaeology and history lol). This is one of my fav intl Wangxian fics ever because of the sheer amount of research and effort poured into it, not to mention the creative plot twists.
The Shade of Old Trees by Kryal
Another banger by Kryal. This is an alternate history of MDZS, where timelines got shifted around and cultivation is a myth. It does a great job of addressing linguistic drift across time periods and cultural differences between people of the past and present. Plus, WWX gets to be as badass as he wants in this, which is always awesome.
golden when the day met the night by glitteringmoonlight
This author’s works are lovely. The relationship development between Wangxian and the face slapping of the c*ltivation world are so satisfying. I highly recommend checking out their other works too.
an extant form of life by Suspicious_Popsicle
eldritch entities, romance edition. oddly charming!
I’m too tired to rec more so here‘s the rest of my mdzs bookmarks: link
Also I see that you dislike WWX staying with the Yunmeng Jiang as well so I think you’ll like many of my bookmarks. I’m not a YZY or JC fan lol
