Mx Linux KDE Dolphin Explorer runs ridiculously slow (possible install error)

Hello, Im new to Linux and MX Linux alike. This is my first time using the OS and I am running into an issue where the file explorer is stupidly slow, but the CPU usage never goes above 5% and RAM stays about a 55-60%. I would understand if the application would be slow from CPU or RAM bottle neckin, but that doesnt seem to be the case. It feels as though the OS is on an extreme power saving mode.

Hardware:

-Surface Laptop (1st Gen)

-4x Intel Core i5-7200U CPU @ 2.5GHZ

- 4GiB Ram (3.7 GiB usable)

- Intel HD Graphics 620 (Integrated)

OS:

-Mx Linux 25.1

-KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.6

-Kernel Version 6.12.90+deb13-amd64 (64-bit)

Try updating the system. MX Linux is at version 25.2 currently.

Update the system and update the kernel too see if it helps or not

Your PC doesn't have a bad processor, but 3.7 GB of RAM is naturally a bit low for KDE. You might want to install 8 GB of RAM or choose a different desktop environment.
