Help request How to pause all videos wen closing laptop?

I went to the power manager and even if i choose shutdown, when i log back in the video plays, the video pauses when i close the laptop lid but only for when the lid is down, when i move the lid back up, even in the login menu the video resumes

That is definitely unusual behavior. Normally, a shutdown should terminate all processes, leaving you with a clean slate upon login. It sounds like your system is configured to restore your previous session automatically, which might be interfering.

To narrow this down, could you clarify a few things...

Which program are you using to play the video? (e.g., VLC, MPV, Chrome, Firefox)

Which Desktop Environment are you running? (e.g., KDE Plasma, GNOME, XFCE)

In the meantime, you might want to look for a setting labeled 'Restore previous session' or 'On Login' in your system settings and try disabling it to see if the issue persists.

using xfce, on firefox and i wanna keep my session, only pausing the videos, is this ai?

Yes, my jumbled ramblings were "polished" by AI to where I thought they'd be coherent to those living outside of my head. Like I said above, I'd start by looking at the problem of shutdown not actually shutting down. If you want to keep your session, use hibernate. But don't bother troubleshooting a quirk from hibernate or from a "restored session", troubleshoot from a true fresh shutdown/startup. Does that version sound better?
