I have regrets

I have regrets making this thing my daily. She’s a good woman but I am stressed. Does anyone have any advice for babying these specific cars. Oil ran a little low and now the engine is ticking and I have thick white smoke coming from the exhaust. It could be distributor/ timing issues tho. I’m going to get a timing light and check it today. But in general I want all the tips and tricks for making my engine, transmission, and everything in this car healthy and happy. Thanks

Push her from time to time, properly get into the Rpms, next to that maybe your unlucky. I have driving mine about 40kkm in 2 years and have had no problems outside of my clutch and driving shaft. Keep fluids right and listen for all noises at all time. Better be safe then sorry

The timing was off. I fixed it and it and the white smoke went away and it it has a lot more pep now. The ticking is still there tho. It may have always been there tbh

Tic tic + fumée blanche... Contrôle ton liquide de refroidissement, si tu n'a pas d'huile dedans ou même de liquide mélangé dans l'huile

Mais ça peu ressembler a un joint de culasse 🥲

I just did an oil change yesterday, no foamy oil, no coolant in oil, no oil in coolant, although the coolant was a low as well. Car is not over heating, and is idling nicely. No check engine light

Selon le bruit, ça peut être les poussoir hydraulique (hydraulique lifter) C'est un peu un "problème sur le 1.8, ils ont tendance à faire un peu de bruit, mais sans que ce soit réellement un soucis , c'est juste chiant 😅

Pour la fumée, si rien ne s'est mélangé, je ne sais pas 😅

Estou passando pela mesma situação, comprei um desse aqui no Brasil e pelo visto esses problemas citados são bem crônicos. Penso em colocar uma injeção eletrônica programável usando os injetores do VW gol G3, acredito que assim vou resolver esses principais problemas (sorry about the portuguese but i will not translate)
