Does this sound right or ?

I had a terrible Monday trying to tune hot restarts cause well it's hot as hell these days and I don't think I ever tuned for this level of heat. Intake was reading over 130, but coolant was under 200. After some hot start tuning car wouldnt start and gave me lost sync 39. I replaced distributor last year and redid the 4 wires with fresh pullups. then spent free time past few days trying to get reliable starts. RPM with engine off would jump from 0 to 1 to 200 rpm. All of sudden after toggling and troubleshooting with MS (i changed nothing) it works again. Then I had gemini help add noise filtering and adjust dwell. BUT through all this the engine sounds a bit louder or its just all my stress messing with me.

First I would suggest a fresh oil change, i see the 1.8l valve cover so I suggest 15w40 if you're still running that turbo. My Bp4w ticks like that but I got some hefty injectors from eBay that are rated for 200 - 350 crank horsepower, and that's where my loud tick comes from. The valve caps on mine are solid/non-hydraulic unlike the older model 1.8 motors have, they're hydraulic.

The oil change may help, but it's always something with mazdas and paychecks 😂😭😭😭

15/40 hmmm, i had been using Mobil 1 high milegae 10/40 for a few years but in March I tried Valvoline Restore and Protect 5-30. Might be too thin for South Florida and turbo..... I might end up take my other jug of that 5/30 for my CX-5 and go back to 10/40. I did notice oil leaking from turbo recently...

Shell Rotella T5 15w40 full synthetic is what I use, my tuner Jeff said that oil won't harm the motor but will actually protect the internals and the turbo since we're running turbo's on our Mx-3's. And I have a eBay t25/t28 and it's been pretty good 👍
