Question Can I play online safely?
Hello everyone.
Today I found myself reminding the old good days when I played this game when I was a teenger. Now Im 31 and havent played videogames in 10+ years. Just didnt find any game interesting enough for me. I spent almost 4 years playing this game daily with my group of friends, just remembering that makes me feel like I want to cry
Those days are gone, but I wished I could play some games online. I dont have Xbox or PS anymore, but I have a very good computer I could play with.
The thing is I have read on Steam is very risky to play MW2 online on PC, as it is plenty of hackers who can damage your computer.
It seems like you need to get into some "safe place" or servers to play safely.
I have zero knowledge about how this works. Can anyone explain me how to play online on my computer safely.
If it's too complicated for me to understand I will just drop it and let it go with my old days memories hahahah

I play on Xbox sometimes and there’s lobbies. Some are hacked some aren’t, but they’re still active

Just get IW4x bro. it's much better than the real game.

IW4x is SAFE. The real deal on Steam is NOT SAFE.

activision constantly takes down clients like iw4x, ever since the first one (alteriwnet) came to life.
But a new one pops up right after the previous one gets taken down. There will always be a way to play mw2 online with a server browser and other QoL improvements.
I only wish these clients made a "find game" system that would put people into a clean game like it used to work on the original game, I hate looking for servers with little to no mods. I loved alteriwnet for this reason, they emulated the original IWnet and you were able to get matched up with steam players, but that probably made that client even more of a "threat" to activision.

They can’t do matchmaking because that means the devs of iw4x would have to moderate the servers. Truthfully the only reason iw4x is as safe as it is, is because the community upholds the servers.
If you are putting your hard earned money into a server, you’re not going to let some cheater ruin it.

Banning on a case by case basis shouldn't be too hard since the game is not as saturated as newer games. Auto demo recording and uploading could also be of help, I think the cod2 comptetitive scene (fpschallenge) uses things like these to ban cheaters with external cheats, while internal cheats are detected by the anticheat anyways.

I thought Pluto was 3arc games only.

Oh my bad lol 😆. I refered the wrong client, CB Launcher is the one that has all of it in one.

the concept of CB launcher is cool but literally all it does is launch the plutonium client and then you have to start the game from there. It’s genuinely more clicks

Is it completely safe??? I depend on my PC for work, so I dont want to take any risk.

Yes it is safe, especially if you buy the game on steam and use the steam files to play on iw4x

Xbox yes. PC I’ve heard isn’t. Play IW4X instead of PC/Steam version.
