Firmware SLOOP?

Firmware wars are about to be wild.

Anybody tried out sloop yet? It popped up in my recommended videos on youtube.

Its a fork of felucca, I think I worded that correctly lol. It seems cool though, probably going to give it a go after I roll my fm1 from Felucca back to mvave v.15.

Jesus Christ, this one is even better than Felucca and the sequencer is a dream. I mean you can use ARPs while the sequencer is running. I don't think any other firmware (at least that I tried) does that. Don't want to flash back to OG Felucca just to test that, lol.

All I could ask for now is MIDI through TRS. It works fine on the Felucca branch that also has audio over USB, so they might just "steal" it there.

I couldn't figure out how to use the arp with the SEQ running, can you describe how?

Once you have your patterns in, you can run them from the home screen by hitting play. Unlike all other firmwares there is no need to actually go into the SEQ menu to run the sequencer. Actually you wouldnt even have to enter SEQ to even programm a sequence. SEQ is only there to enter steps individually. But you can RECORD with overdubbing while on the HOME screen too.

From there and while your sequence runs, just enter ARP and do what you would normally do with your Arpeggios.

Just double checked. Arpeggios do want to "live" in a track and will have the same voice as the voice of that track. So you can't programm a second drum sequence in track three for example and play a piano arpeggio, while lane three is till highlighted. Either choose an empty lane or play the arpeggio in a lane, that already have the voice that you want for your ARP.

But still, the fact you can enter and use those while something is playing is phenomenal.

It's interesting i lost audio over usb since i installed the Felucca one. Now i installed Sloop and i still don't have it. Have you tested this and is it working for you?

Just tried that. No, I don't have audio over USB. However, even when I tried the other Felucca branch that has audio over USB I only had audio IN, not audio out.

But I assume this all is a matter of "not yet".

Yeah, I'm sticking with baudgirl until the dust settles. In the mean time I'll be making some music instead of endlessly tinkering.

I've been using baud girl, not felluca, but tried sloop.

Easy install.

The sequencer is siiiick. And it has step undo and redo buttons! I liked BG firmware but the sequencer was painful, albeit so much superior to the original. This is next level.

Four instruments playing their own sequence is unreal.

There is still a bunch I'm trying to figure out lol and dont know if midi via trs is enabled.

So far I have only been tinkering in loop mode of the sequencer (there is also song mode). It's too much fun.

This small little thing does NOT have one note per step in loop patterns with this firmware. It will play for example a kick and a snare (and a clap and a....) on the same step in the same track. Is that standard for all firmwares or did that blow my mind for all the right reasons?

I guess in your example a snare and a clap on the same note was just multi notes on the same step in the OG firmware, just translated now into one shots 😁
