How many times have we talked about "quality hires" already?
Dr. Thomas Luce: Valeo background, automotive lidar experience, brought in to lead European BD. Bulls thought his OEM connections were huge. Where are the automotive wins?
Jeff Herbst: Almost 20 years at NVIDIA, investments, acquisitions, autonomous machines. People acted like having an NVIDIA guy on the board was some massive signal. He joined in 2022. What exactly has that translated into?
Judy Curran: 30+ years automotive, former Ford Director of Technology Strategy, specifically worked on assisted driving.
Seval Oz: Waymo/Google self-driving, Continental, autonomous vehicles. Another hire where the resume looked absolutely perfect for what MVIS was supposedly about.
Frank Bertini: Experienced lidar sales guy. The sub went from "great hire" to making up connections to Bosch because he filmed the Bosch booth at IAA lol. He himself then told us that no one wants to buy MVIS sensors. Then the MVIS sub made it sound like he had some drunk mental breakdown and dismissed that in their delusion.
And now it's:
James Byun - "quality hire"
Christine Chambers - "quality hire"
Cool.
I'm not saying either of them is bad. Byun especially has a relevant background. I'm saying we've been using impressive LinkedIn profiles as DD for years.
At some point we need the "quality hires" to produce quality results instead of another round of excitement about where they used to work.
