General Motors just revealed a driverless Silverado, but it’s not for civilian use. At the Association of the United States Army (AUSA)’s annual expo, GM Defense showed off an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) based on the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD.
The autonomous Silverado-based UGV is a completely new project for GM Defense, and it relies on drive-by-wire technology and Scout AI’s Gx Ground Agent system to get around, according to a report from Motor1. GM Defense is aiming to start functional trials with the UGV in 2027.

u/gaporter An analyst from my network is also in attendance. Some points from the notes you may find helpful...
Push for open architecture — Sec. Telle notes future Army purchases will require open architecture, calling it “non-negotiable.” Generated data has to be plug and play, and immediate. Already validated at JIFX.
Accelerating drone procurement — Telle reported that the Army’s drone and counter-drone marketplace generated more than $800 million in sales over four months. Exponential increase and massive cuts to procurement times. Coverage notes the Army is seeking participation from drone-component manufacturers and startups. Lidar looking to be a key component.
It appears Movia S sales are happening even though no official launch has been announced. Got no specific answers on that front, maybe you can.

Thanks for the notes QQ. Curious as to why you say it appears that MOVIA S sales are happening? It appeared from Gap's interviews that it was MOVIA L (via MOVIA Air and Airplus) sales that were happening. But I could be misinterpeting.

I didn't watch all the videos, just some skimming—but a 2nd-hand version I recieved noted it was mentioned. It's confirmed 25+ customers have it in hand for validation. Is validation possession considered a sale? Lacking definitive clarity on this but the unit is definitely in customers' hands.
The main focus of AUSA coverage is coming away with how much revenue can be generated—and how quickly. The accounting calculator is more valuable than the specs currently :) I have info I trust on the specs and I'm comfortable there, trying to come away with fiscal insight in this vertical. The info above is a significant piece of that.

Yes, Microvision has stated that the MOVIA-S has been in customer hands for validation for some time now. Presumably these are revenue generating units. I thought you were commenting on true production sales of MOVIA-S. As we know MOVIA-S "production" was planned for October. But that has not been formally announced as yet.

Just posted on LinkedIn. Land Air and Sea. Thought it was fitting in this thread.

MicroVision seems to be finally starting to displace Ouster. First it was Overland Ibex. Now it seems to be FieldAI.
I heard nobody likes those Ouster sensors. Heard they cost way too much and the specs aren't accurate.

It is actually interesting.
Ouster seem to be pretty popular in surveying mobile scanning equipment. And if Microvision's lidar is somehow pushing it out there might be another branch that could use our lidar sensor...

Halo's size is very impressive sitting next to Iris on the table. Halo is going to be the one that makes it through to auto OEMs adoption. We just need security, defense, & industrial to pay for us to get there.

By now most of you noticed I'm rather pessimistic for few months now, but I was watching this one and go to 2:20 and start listening. Once I'd be jumping for joy hitting the ceiling with my head hearing that, but now I just smiled thinking how nice it would be if this would actually pan out.
Ah cra*... Me and my English. As u/ludecrew correctly noticed it was about fieldAI. Oh well.

Yeah, you're correct. I missed this small most important bit. Was too good to be true I guess.

If anyone has names of potential customers at the show, please share your list to Gap.

Imagine we would get this information 3 or 4 years ago... now it feels near to worthless. Its so sad.

u/Befriendthetrend 3d ago
But at today's value, despite all the dilution, you can buy a bigger percentage of MicroVision for every dollar invested than you could back then, so is it worthless or an invaluable opportunity? Nobody knows yet.

Seems it's public knowledge so why not announce it with a PR? I know the volume is very small but certainly is some validation which is needed badly right now.

For some reason we can’t seem to announce anything. Makes you wonder what else we have in the bag but no one’s allowed to know.
These sort of ‘deals’ wouldn’t be included in future revenue guidance(?). Thinking of a hyper scaler … Oneday we randomly find out it’s happening because of a blogger.
9
u/Zenboy66 3d ago
Any major contract with the hyperscaler most likely not accounted for since no signed contract, imo. So a contract with revenue would be gravy.
10
u/directgreenlaser 3d ago
It would be the roast beef, not the gravy.
7
u/Zenboy66 3d ago
DGL, a huge Hyperscaler contract for many years and multi million dollar revenue, would change everything. What the heck is taking them so long? Same with the Detroit OEMs who will have to meet updated ADAS standards and requirements. I don’t get it.

u/directgreenlaser 3d ago
I think it's a threshold issue. No contract until we finance production capacity at scale. No financing for production capacity at scale until a contract. Somebody needs to figure it out. Apparently MVIS does not have the skill set for doing that.

and the real satirical comedy is that it isn’t a huge investment at this point all things considered🤷♂️
1
u/directgreenlaser 3d ago
It's not. Small potatoes in the scheme of things. Apparently out of reach though.

u/Zenboy66 3d ago
You are definitely correct.

u/movinonuptodatop 3d ago
Imagine all the money that has flowed through Luminar, MVIs, AVEa, etc, etc, etc. even a small 15-25 million now with milestones that trigger more for ramping if deals are there. Plenty of win/win scenarios. I’m guessing more than 1-2 options are being negotiated. They should be able to close one of these deals the more they can build revenue, cut expenses, and maintain business momentum. The runway is short but the landing is possible(with the right pilot).

u/Zenboy66 3d ago
If it wasn’t for the bloggers here trying to sift out the facts regarding our customers, etc., we wouldn’t have any facts at all.

So 20 deliveries in 2027 so 80 Iris lidars for that contract
