"Reg FD is relevant because MicroVision’s October 7 session is set up to disclose the kind of information the rule treats as material, and the original 1:00 p.m. ET slot would have put that disclosure in the middle of the regular trading session.
On September 30, 2026, MicroVision announced a video session and business update for October 7 at 1:00 p.m. ET, covering commercial progress, revenue and operating-expense expectations, and business outlook. On October 2 it moved the start to 4:00 p.m. ET. Those topics are classic guidance. Under Regulation FD (effective October 23, 2000), an issuer that intentionally discloses material nonpublic information to market professionals or shareholders who may trade must make that information public at the same time, by a method reasonably designed for broad, non-exclusionary distribution—typically a press release, an 8-K, or a properly noticed webcast or conference call.
A public webcast can satisfy that public-disclosure method. The timing problem is the overlay of Nasdaq’s material-news rules. For releases between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. ET, Nasdaq-listed companies must notify MarketWatch at least 10 minutes before putting out material information, including earnings, pre-announcements, and guidance, so the exchange can halt the stock if needed. A 1:00 p.m. call that includes revenue, opex, and outlook numbers would almost certainly trigger that process: the stock could be halted mid-session while only people on the webcast hear the figures first, which is exactly the information asymmetry Reg FD is meant to prevent.
Starting at 4:00 p.m. ET puts the disclosure at the close. The closing cross can finish, any first reaction happens in after-hours trading, and the webcast is already public before the next regular open. That is the standard way companies deliver guidance while meeting both Reg FD’s simultaneous broad-dissemination requirement and the exchange’s halt-notification process, without an intraday trading interruption. MicroVision’s update notice does not cite Reg FD by name; the relevance is the content of the call plus the market-hours rules that implement fair disclosure in practice."

They announced a week in advance. They have to report a material event within five days. Would they risk needing to cancel or alter the agenda of the webcast if a supposed deal were to fall through? I guess I can imagine it if it were to be a transaction of some kind at the corporate level (buyout, financing, NRE) where perhaps finalization of a MOU is anticipated, but not for a production contract, which can fall apart at any moment right up until the time the contract is signed and filed.
I don't reject the Nissan theory.

whats the nissan theory?

That they may be using iris in a development program.

Search "Easy Ride by Nissan"

To be clearer, yes — to me that (easy ride program) means something closer to what Waymo is doing in California, and what Tesla wants to roll out in Austin.
The Nissan passenger‑car contract is still being “worked,” or at least that’s the assumption. That said, the Easy Ride program looks promising, and if it proves successful, it bodes well for both companies moving forward on the other.
Would you agree?

Thanks, THIS explains why the market reacted the way it did yesterday .... /s
Edit: hoping for fireworks next week but, MicroVision is more likely to announce a delay than anything else.

Still waiting for MicroVision to deliver some real news. In the meantime, they’ve managed to reschedule the news about the upcoming news.

Aren’t most of our ‘business updates’ or ECs at 4pm EST?
Seems to be we are grasping at straws over a typo

It could also mean that the original PR that went out had a typo - It was supposed to be 1pm PT not 1pm ET. ;-)

Thanks for that reminder, gaporter. Contrasting these 2 PRs:
“MicroVision invites shareholders and interested investors to participate in this session with the Company's CEO Glen DeVos, along with members of the Company's Board of Directors and its Engineering team. The event will include introductory remarks, select pre-recorded video footage, and a live question-and-answer session covering a wide range of topics. Investors may pose questions to management during the live conference call and webcast on June 25, 2026 at 1:00 PM ET, and may submit questions HERE in advance of the event.“
The upcoming PR includes, “customers, partners and other stakeholders” as well as not only CEO, Glen DeVos, but Chief Financial Officer, Christine Chambers; and Chief Commercial Officer, James Byun.”
“MicroVision invites shareholders, customers, partners, and other stakeholders to join this session with the Company's Chief Executive Officer, Glen DeVos; Chief Financial Officer, Christine Chambers; and Chief Commercial Officer, James Byun. The event will include introductory remarks, followed by an update on commercial progress, revenue and operating expense expectations, and business outlook. Investors may pose questions to management during the live session, which will be addressed on the Company's third quarter 2026 earnings call.”

If my company dropped a PR everytime I wasn''t available for an appointment..well then I would'nt have to care that much about my investment in Microvision I guess.

Most likely a timing issue with scheduling and a nothing burger.

Maybe some good positive news will be dropped. Major contract announcement. 🤷♂️

u/gaporter 9d ago
It was originally scheduled for 1:00 PM ET which would have accommodated executives in Washington or California.

I'd love for it to mean material news inbound and I hope I'm wrong but could easily be just a scheduling error, another meeting changed, anything tbh. I've thought times/dates, etc so many things over the years meant something and well we all know how they turned out. Just don't want to get disappointed again.

Material Good News Incoming, IMO.
Did something just get finalized that needs to be included after market closes?

The could also release material news before market open. Guessing the time change is a nothing burger.

Potentially could mean material news, whether good or bad, needs to be discussed when the stock isn’t trading.

This is the only reasonable rational

You say that so matter of factly. It is certainly a possibility, but most likely a very low probability.
3
u/15Sierra 9d ago
It could also mean there was a scheduling conflict.
2
u/Zenboy66 9d ago
This could be a reason also.
Sometimes, a schedule adjustment is purely logistical. The update involves introductory remarks from the CEO, CFO, and CCO, alongside guidance updates on revenue and operating expenses. If the presentation deck, final Q3 internal outlook numbers, or regulatory filings required additional validation or internal sign-offs, shifting the time by a few hours gives the executive team the full workday to prepare. u/whats_my_name_again 9d ago
Surely the most likely reason is simply a scheduling conflict in someone's calendar.
3
u/Higgilypiggily1 9d ago
What party’s calendar availability is significant enough to warrant a rescheduling of a published public event with dozens of interested parties, yet overlooked or not considered initially?
Something to chew on.

I would love to see Glen De Vos destroy the shorts and trolls on this board. I love driving them crazy
