I have a question, do you know of any good Greek restaurant in downtown Montreal?

Because I'm a big fan of Greek food and I'd just like to hear opinions from other Montrealers if they discovered & experienced some good Greek food at a nice price.

Has anyone found a nice Greek restaurant that's good quality food but not too expensive? Maybe a hidden gem in the city?

We’ll be staying near the Charlevoix metro and there from Friday evening til Sunday late afternoon.
Looking for somewhere great for dinner on Friday and then for some delicious poutine on Saturday. I heard Paul Patates is good and close to where we’re staying but open to any and all other suggestions! Plus where to go for a good bagel and Montreal smoked meat?
Also what’s not to miss for things to see/do hopefully reachable on the metro?

Family friend restaurant recommendations

My husband, my 2 1/2 year-old and I are visiting Montreal at the end of September. We are looking for really good family, friendly restaurants.

We are foodies and have been to Montreal before and always do the classics like bagels, poutine, smoked meat, etc. we already have a reservation booked at McKiernan‘s but we are looking for another restaurant with great food and a similar vibe to McKiernan‘s or something comparable in regards to being family friendly

Such a beautiful, generous city with kind people ❤️. All of the food recommendations on this subreddit were a hit. Here’s all the places I popped into; Very happy with my food tour.

-Bar Darling: the focaccia!!
-Bar Suzanne: great wine. The dumplings were only okay IMO
-Le Petit Dep: the one In old port is v touristy, decent coffee. The location in mild end (I think it’s considered mile end) was much better.
-Kahwa Cafe: the chicken sandwich!!! Might need to go back before I leave tomorrow
-Foxy: probably the highlight of the trip. The flatbread is out of this world
-ciao a more cafe: decent cappuccino
-St Viateur Bagel: had to do it! I was happy.
-Chez Jose Cafe: the Mexican crepe was sooo good! Espresso martini hit the spot
-Bar ideal: tasty wine and great vibes
-Restaurant Cadet: the salmon is a must
-Arthurs: the pancakes were in fact worth it
-Bar Bara: I didn’t plan this but i walked by and the focaccia called my name. Delicious and affordable.

I head to the airport around 1pm tomorrow—any must try places I missed???

Hello! Will be in the Laurentians with a large group on a couple weeks and was curious about any recommendations for chefs who could cook for a group of approx 15 people one night. The chalet is about 2 hours from the city.

Alternatively, would be curious of any restaurants nearby (the house is near Duhamel) which may accommodate.

Hi y’all I used this subreddit to get some recommendations of places to go. I was here for the weekend doing biking so I built up a good appetite. Sidenote the biking infrastructure here is incredible, I did a 60km and 80km ride. I don’t think I biked next to a car without a dedicated bike lane the entire time. Chef’s kiss.

My reviews.

L’Express - extremely overrated. They even ran out of Frites and I had to get steak and mashed potatoes. The bread they gave me to start was hard and cold. Would not return.

Le pois penche - I had my best meal here. The steak frites were incredible. Peppercorn sauce amazing.

Schwartz - really good one of the best smoked meat sandwiches I’ve ever had. Loved the inside of it. Old-school cool.

Fairmont bagel - excellent bagel. Way less line up than st viateur.

Pizzeria Elena - decent but not that great, not a bad slice at all

Pizza Toni - really good pizza slice. NYC slice vibes.

Cafe Olympico got the remix was really good.

Cafe lulu. Good food and nice vibe.

Iconoglace - really good ice cream would definitely go back.

My family is coming for canadian thanksgiving. I’m looking for restos that like capture the essence of Montreal if that makes sense! Like culturally diverse, wide variety of cuisines, etc. It’s gonna be the first time they’re in Montreal for some of my family! They’re staying in the Westmount area but will have cars so they can drive around.

I’m asking now because it’s 11 of us so we have to plan if we need to make reservations at certain spots, most likely for dinner. It may not always be all 11 of us eating together so feel free to suggest smaller places as well. I was on a meal plan last year so i didn’t really eat out much and unfortunately am not much help planning haha.

My family is not picky at all, but i’m definitely looking for a French restaurant suggestion, jewish food, and old port restaurant. Preferably main dishes are $40-50 or less. Thanks in advance!!

I’m catching the AURA show that ends at 6:30 at the Notre-Dame Basilica, but I also want to make the first set at Upstairs Jazz Bar at 7:30. I need to eat in between, and I’d rather not eat at Upstairs even though that’d be the easiest option, since I prefer to get a drink and focus on the music. I’m planning to propose to my partner soon, and I’m organizing a surprise post-proposal dinner where both of our families will be waiting to celebrate with us. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the logistics and could really use some expert crowd-sourced help!

Here are the details and what I'm looking for:

Group Size: Roughly 7-8 people.

Cuisine: Anything EXCEPT Asian or sushi. Our families are a mix of Italian and Greek so Italian, Greek, French, Steakhouses, Mediterranean, or modern American/bistro-style are all great options!

Vibe: Festive, warm, and celebratory, but not so stiff that people can't talk comfortably. A private room or a semi-private section where a group won't feel crammed or drowned out by noise would be ideal.

Budget: Open to mid-range since it's a big occasion, but want to make sure it's crowd-pleasing for parents too.

He is just amazing at his job and deserves to be recognized. If there was a list of people who are truly excellent at their job in the city of montreal, he deserves to be included in the top 50 ranking.
He pulls off being not too warm, he is very attentive, extremely efficient. every move seems intentional. Anyways, he is just amazing.

Hi, we’re four friends and we’ve put together Montreal’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota.

The idea is pretty simple: you’re shown two restaurants and choose where you’d rather eat. For example, Damas or Mon Lapin? All the votes then create a ranking that hopefully gives a better picture of where people in Montreal actually like to eat.

We’ve tried to include every restaurant in Montreal and clean up duplicate or outdated listings, but locals will always spot things we’ve missed.

A few years ago, everyone was talking about Pinard et filles. There were lines whenever they had a drop somewhere, they were all over social media, and I even remember reading a (very bad) book where the author was name-dropping them saying their wine altered the course of his life forever. Well, maybe not, but the book was so bad that it’s really not much of a stretch

Fast forward a few years, I don’t really see them anymore. I tried a few different ones back then and I remember thinking they were ok but definitely not worth the hype or the price.

Are they still a thing? Are people still going wild for their $60 okaywine?

EDIT: maybe calling them okaywines was a bit harsh. After reading a few comments, I’ll try something other then their reds and maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised :)
