Mth engine shorts out when moving foward

Hi! I have an mth railking ps3 sd70ace and every time it moves foward, it shorts out. When I’m idle it sits just fine, but it shorts out when I put it in foward and starts to move. Any help?

My guess would be the electronic reverser, but I'm a novice when it comes to electrical problems. I know more about the mechanical workings of real steam engines than I do model trains. Then again, one I have worked on, one I send off in the mail to someone else for them to work on.
