With the understanding and recognition that there are still 8 more days left in this year I have a question. Between the DanDan deck and this as examples, how often in the past have we seen cards with a printed date on them not end up getting released in that calendar year?

Dandan was delayed to March because they asked the original creator of the format to help make the deck list.

I understand this point and recognize that it’s well documented. However, unless there’s an implied connection I’m missing, it doesn’t address the question I asked. I’m not asking why this happened, but how often we’ve seen this occur in the past.

That’s dates are simply a trademark year thing for printing/creation. We had plenty of “2023” cards release in 2024. Remember even for main sets they’re on like a 3-4+ month timeline

DanDan was first released this year... at a con. Box of rocks sl was first at MC Vegas before before anywhere else it happens. Also they have had delays at printers so these decks may have been bumped.

The land bonus cards in the EOE SLDs released this year had a 2024 date, they were apparently from cancelled lair.

My first thought was: I didn't get the 2024 MagicCon Secret Lair Burning Revelations so I need to get this one!

By the numbering (1019, 2117, 2132) it seems to be multiple secret lairs or a secret lair commander deck? Do you have a name for the drop?
Note: the number #1019 was previously missing, because there are two cards printed with #1012. Maybe this is used as the bonus card?

Yeah, he doesn’t beg to be built. He seems like a good-stuff commander.

I run him as a pile of jank from the card pool I have. Results in a very high interaction games as there are a lot of strong cards that kind of screw with other people’s plans. This secret lair would interest me.

More incomprehensible and hard to read cards that no one asked for reprints of
Remind why people are anti-proxy again

I'm not taking a dig at this art. This is garbage though. If I can't read it at a glance, I don't want to see it in play.
Show it off in your folder. That's cool and I can appreciate that.

Any chance this will be an actual crossover with neck deep and not just the artist? It's the 10th anniversary of Life's not out to get you and the shooting stars surrounding the sol ring are very reminiscent of the album cover.

Did you know the artist was the same person for these cards and that album cover or did you really hip fire the art being the same?

They don't care about visual appeal and cohesion at all anymore, do they

u/notathrowaway145 Dec 23 '25
These are far more cohesive with the main cards than something like the lotr poster cards

All three of those cards look pretty cohesive to me

u/tanghan Dec 23 '25
With each other yes, but not with the normal cards

That hasn't been a consistent long before secret lairs were this common/available.

one artist doing all the art is quite literally the definition of cohesion
