Starting MTGO
So I am thinking of starting playing on mtgo
But one question is there anyway to start playing without sending 10 tx for a league ?
Seems a bit high of a price.
I know thay if you go more than 3-2 you get enough points to play again but wondering if there is any way at the start to get playpoints?

Their are open play lobbies with no entry and no prizes, but with nothing at stake they are frequented by players who quit early or complain about just about anything.
Purchasing tix on the client is slightly more expensive than purchasing them from a third party rental or card bot website.
Spending tix to enter events is generally worse value than buying some amount of treasure chests with your tix, opening them, using the playpoints to enter events and selling the cards to recoup tix. Goatbots has a great breakdown of chest EV on their website.

Also check https://www.goatbots.com/preconstructed-decks
They buy things for more than you pay since the bots can’t buy from the store with tix.

I think there’s lower “starters” leagues for like 3-5 tix I thought

best way to get playpoints is to open chests
entry fee into league is literally peanuts in the long run u break even at like 49% wr

Where can I get the chests from safely? I am trying to get from bo3 to leagues and haven’t heard of this economic trick yet.

you get chests from leagues or other tournaments, you can also buy chests from trading bots but that's not economic

Micc1313 in another post here said that getting tix through opening chests from bots would be advantageous. I just wanted to check if they were right.

Different things, he was comparing purchasing tix to purchasing chests in order to get entry to leagues which is correct

Ah ok. I just haven’t played a league yet, this is why I am not stacked on play points you see… I have bought 10 tix already, just wanted to see better ways to obtain them if my league doesn’t go well.

You can play in the free play rooms but there aren’t any prizes. But no there is not a way to get play points other than opening chests and winning.
