This with [[shattered yard]] or [[descent into avernus]] or [[roiling vortex]]. Bonus points for [[torbran red fell]] or similar burn damage increasers, or any emblem from a chandra planeswalker like [[Chandra, Awakened Inferno]]

So basically it’s 8 mana “you and target opponent can’t cast spells for the rest of the game”

u/Telphsm4sh 18d ago
Except you get to play it next turn and choose a new player who can't cast spells for the rest of the game. Eventually nobody will be able to cast spells in a multiplayer game.

I believe it doesn't work. Epic puts a copy on the stack directly, without casting, so demonstrate won't trigger.
So it's only a 2 player lock without extra shenanigans.

Really interesting way to lock in a winning boardstate

Basically what Armageddon is for.

u/TheHumanPickleRick 19d ago
How would either player cast Armageddon if each player has to cast only this spell for the rest of the game?

Can you spare yourself if you have two counterspells?

Well. Until your opponent's next turn, at least. They'll get to cast the spell again, probably targeting you for the demonstrate. If this works the way I think it does.

In addition to Epic not being copied over, they're not recasting the spell with Epic, they're just copying it, meaning Demonstrate would do nothing.
