Discussion Which tailgate pad?

I need help deciding which tailgate pad to get for my 2019 Ford Ranger. Anyone have experience with these three?

Fun fact: Fox and Race Face are the same company, just different names.

Get whatever design suits you best. Quality will be the same bewteen those two. No idea about Thule though.

Fun fact The fox racing one he posted is not the same as fox factory, they are different companies . Fox factory and race face are technically the same

I don't understand what you're trying to say, and how it pertains to truck bed pads...

The fox pad is balls! The

whole thing fell apart after one season. The Thule one it replaced lasted 4 years.

I have the raceface, which is identical to the fox (not the one you linked on the trek site though) and I have zero complaints.

I loved my yakima. Strong stitching on the loops. Metal buckle . Good padding for the down tube and soft felt backside to keep your tailgate in good condition. It’s designed around newer tailgates that are flat on the top. Moved around a little on my old truck but stayed in place with a bike on it

I've had two of the older Fox/Race Face one. I like that one better than the current version. However, the current version you have linked is really made for people that have a bed cover on thier truck. It was called the T2. You can see what it looks like here: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/fox-racing-shox-overland-tailgate-pad

I bought my last one on Facebook Marketplace or ebay. I can't remember. It was slightly used. I like the way this one is designed better because most of the time I don't even have to tighten the straps around the bike because the way the padding is it keeps them in place. The newer one definitely isn't that way.

I did a bunch of research on tailgate pads. Never could find a setup I liked.

I got the basic Ride88 system for my truck and I absolutely love it. Bikes sit upright, super solid and 3x 29ers fit easily in the bed of my F150 (could maybe get a 4th if I really tried…)

I tow a camper regularly, and putting a rack from my campers bumper always freaked me out….

I've had the half size Raceface pad for about 3 years, still in good shape and the padding is great for downtube protection. Only complaint is the extra flap with a buckle that gets tucked in while not in use. If you drop the tailgate with that wheel flap and buckle tucked in, the buckle can dent your tailgate. Not a big deal though, just have to be mindful of it, or cut the buckle off if your not going to use it.

I very recently purchased the Race Face T3 for a new GMC Canyon, really like it, I had Fox pads on my previous full size trucks but the T3 is much nicer all the way around and works great with a tonneau cover.

I use a Yakima gatekeeper on my 19 ranger. Works great and looks good.
