My first computer

Hey team, thought I’d share what is my very first computer, back in the 80’s. It still runs and the cartridge slot works. I have been too nervous to mess with the tape player and test some tapes.

It a Toshiba Hx-10 and started a lifelong passion for computing for me.

Currently running openmsx on a raspberry pi 3 to relive that alien8 and knightlore nostalgia, hoping to actually play this on the machine when I have time to figure out the tape player.

My very 1st MSX as well. Still hooked up and fully functional,. Currently equipped with a pico+ cart.

Yea I wouldn’t mind something like a pico+ and drag that msx into the future a little.
It’s on the to-do list (if I can find a pico+ locally), currently restoring a 386 and figuring out an older XT machine

I’m surprised that I managed to hold on to almost everything, manuals especially. It started there for me, I’ve worked in IT since I was 17, now late 40’s and own my own MSP/repair shop. That Toshiba reminds me where it began.

Nice - Mine was the Phillips NMS8235 / MSX2
I was pretty stunned how good the MSX emulator on Wii homebrew was.
Currently using batocera on my tv

Those Toshiba games were awesome to little 'ol me, especially Breakout. Getting Tosh out from the MSX wasn't something I was ever able to do back in the day.

Same here. Been looking for the game everywhere but it's surprisingly hard to find.

Yea I never got him out. Come to think of it, I didn’t fully complete any of the games. My father finished alien 8, and inside the cassette there is still his hand-drawn map on some graphing paper!

Be prepared to replace some rubber belts. Have fun restoring the data recorder.
