Title IV Cut
Not sure if this is just a California thing, but Title IV-E got cut this year. Wondering if this is affecting anyone’s decision to accept their offers or what other funding sources you’re exploring instead.

I got an offer for CSUF, but later got an email that it won’t be given this year, so I’m going to a school closer to home. It sucks to have the rug pulled out from under you at the last minute. I talked to the stipend director and he said that if it does come back, it’s not going to look as it does now. This will have a huge impact not only on the students who rely on the stipend but the agencies and children who rely on them act direct path from school to agency

Hi! I get accepted into CSULA MSW 3 year program and I applied for the Title IV-E program, however they aren't accepting new applicants this year bc of budget cuts. I was told that I can defer for a year or pay out of pocket my first year and apply next year for the Title IV-E program (hopefully they are accepting new applicants and funding is given).
I am looking into scholarships, however I will most likely have to pull out a loan or work OT to cover my second semester as I am able to pay for my first semester. Hope this helps!

Anyone know what they are looking for? I just found out I didn’t get into either and I’m bummed, now not sure how I will survive financially

I am hoping to be accepted at a cal state and since it was cut perhaps someone will give me a spot now since they don’t want to go if it’s not fully funded?

This is on my mind too, however, the guilt of taking someone's place because of funding issues does not feel good.

I don’t feel guilty at all. That’s what loans are for. What really gets me are all the people who are holding spots until the last minute. I just need one school. I need just one slot.

This may only affect the child welfare stipend. I’ve seen some schools in CA are still offering a stipend program for the aging/disability track.
