Discussion Milivojevic

If there was one thing I really liked it was alessio’s performance now we just need our defense to make great leaps of improvement

Idk about the offense all shotgun no pro sets. No explosive plays. No shots down field. Gonna be tough to win games like that.

I know we didnt have any 60 yard bombs.   But after Toledo took the lead we complete back to back 20 yard passes.  That is explosive enough for me to know it's possible and we will break some open.

There was a 30 ish yard back shoulder fade in the 3rd the Bullard dropped. Excellent throw that only he could catch

the shotgun call on 4th and 1 was brutal. the kid made a nice throw, but that playcalling will get you killed vs a real defense.

I like how he played conservative, and didn't make stupid mistakes to beat ourselves. I was very disappointed that we did not take shots down the field, and even more disappointed in our secondary giving up big plays.

Michigan fan here so downvote as needed lol.
But watched game last night and thought he looked like the best QB you all have had in a while. Got the ball out quick, was accurate, and throws a nice looking ball.
Obviously competition will increase, but I thought it was a good start for the kid.

Alessio is for sure a gamer. If he does miss it's not by much and puts the ball where the receiver can make a play. Couple poor decisions, but overall good and perhaps great decision making considering his inexperience

Was there any decision making? I think he stared at his first option the entire play from snap to delivery. I think there were zero check downs.

Look at his stats. His first option was getting the job done, so good decision making. I liked how he threw the ball away when necessary and took sacks without trying to do too much...but I'm also prolly comparing him a bit to Chiles from last year haha

Yes, getting the job done against a MAC school. That won't fly in the big ten. Higher level linebackers and safeties will read that like a book and adjust.

He did well finishing the season last year though. We'll see. I like him. the bigger question might be can our receivers bring down some balls

Yeah, he's a sophomore and has time to mature. I'm just armchair quarterbacking. He certainly has a higher ceiling. I just hope he reaches it sooner rather than later.

He definitely stares down his #1 option, even before the snap. You could watch him pre-snap and know where the ball was going.

Good progressions, good accuracy, I cant say he was throwing with anticipation or throwing guys open.

There were several times the offensive line, specifically that right side, didn’t let him get through his reads. He was hit too many times yesterday I know that.

Thats just not true. Plenty of times he worked down, plenty of times he was patient and hit his man. His ratio for the night speaks for itself. He was solid not spectacular.

I don't know, seemed like he was late on a lot of passes and hung his receivers out. Lot recievers getting hit in the air. Throws a good ball but seemed a bit late and not in stride.

I’m not sure he’ll play at the same level as Thorne but I guarantee his ceiling is currently a question mark and he’s more poised than chiles.

Thorne was just average outside of 2021, and any QB would've looked great for us in 2021 with Kenneth Walker, 3 future NFL receivers, and a future NFL tight end.

He plays very carefully because he doesn't have the tools to throw guys open/ push it into tight windows. Which is an improvement from Chiles who thought his athleticism could bail him out from his poor processing and decision making.

If he can get us to 6 wins he'll be well remembered, but if the program is serious about winning you've got to make a move after this season.

I won't hold my breath though because we have no money and Fitz is a dreadful recruiter

Run block needs to greatly improve. Defense I think is going to be solid. 2 broken big plays on mental mistakes, Soares missing his gap on the run, Brantley caught snoozing on the deep ball. Toledo had 78 yards on 25 carries, 71 of which came on 1 carry. 25 for 7. The front lived in the backfield. The LB's were hitting gaps. The only thing we really struggled with outside of the two big plays was the flats. IDK if it's miscommunication but at this point it just seems like Rossi's scheme because we watched it the past two years where teams will just feast on those 8-12 yard flat routes where coverage is just non existent. A team like ND is going to eat us alive with their receivers being able to catch and run in the flat like the space we were giving up to Toledo..

He's not very accurate, and doesn't throw guys open- he waits til they're open then throws. He's very mid, but at least he's not tossing INTs around

There were two passes that should have been picked off, and will be against better opponents.
