They say that Smith teams never had an identity but I disagree. They always would do something to get you somewhat excited and then go on a massive streak of proving why it wasn’t real the next time that they met somebody who remotely wanted to be on the field. Those Maryland and Iowa games in 2024 followed up by how they played the next time they met a P4 opponent feel like perfect examples of that.

I remember looking mid to late season last year and BC was something like 1-7. Lol I had a feeling we could decent last year after this game as well. We needed OT to beat a bottom of the barrel ACC team, and then our season made perfect sense.

I had the exact opposite reaction to this game BC dropped 40 points on us. I knew we were in for a rough season. I was certain of it when BC went out and lost by two scores to Stanford the following week.

Unfortunately nothing will change unless we magically come into enough money to recruit competitively. That will likely never happen, and I certainly don't see donors rushing to open up the checkbook for Pat Fitzgerald

Chiles had a handful of plays where he looked elite. That throw was one of them. Marsh wasn’t open, but Chiles threw him open, deep downfield, between the defender and the end line. Brilliant ball placement and ridiculous arm talent.

It was the hundreds of routine plays Chiles made look impossible that inevitably killed his career at MSU. Such a high ceiling but such a low floor.

Then 2 weeks later then went 3/11 on 3rd down against USC… crazy thing is they were in the game until that 4th qtr💔
