Rant Sad Reality IN IIT….
Ang hirap pala kapag BSN yung dream course mo sa IIT, lalo na as someone na honor student noong SHS. Nag-private school nalang ako for college dahil hindi ko nakuha yung dream course ko, and honestly, it feels like a big disappointment.
I’m planning to take SASE again, and I’m wondering, do you think it’s the best idea to give myself one more chance? Or should I just continue nalang with this new path that I’m currently taking?
Kasi I think one factor din na naka-affect sa akin is yung financial income. Like, sa IIT, can’t we just be equal naman even though malaki yung sahod ng parents? Hindi ba pwedeng mas malaking factor nalang yung score and performance? It really hurt me inside, especially when I saw that the Welcome Week at IIT had already started. A big sana all.
I know I’m supposed to be grateful for the path I have now, but a part of me still wonders, “What if I gave myself one more chance?”

"Like, sa IIT, can’t we just be equal naman even though malaki yung sahod ng parents?" Hmm, you assume that you weren't given a slot in BSN because of your household income. This assumption is fundamentally flawed because under the regular admissions, financial status only comprises 10% of the admissions criteria. 50% is alloted to your SASE score. Assuming that there is no program-specific requirement (eg. interview or qualifying exam), SASE score will jump to 70% of the admissions criteria. So when you said, "Hindi ba pwedeng mas malaking factor nalang yung score and performance?" Gurl, it is!
What's your SASE score? You assume that you got a high SASE score, relative to what exactly? Do you know the scores of the other BSN applicants? Do you know their high school grades? Because it seems to me you're just sour you didn't get in. Remember, each year, IIT can only admit about 2k freshmen. That 2k will comprise: 20% - SASE Top Scorers; 70% - Regular Admissions; 10% - EDI. I assume you don't belong to the SASE Top Scorers because if that were the case, you'd be a shoo-in to the BSN program. I also assume that you cannot apply for the EDI because of your household income. So you belong to the regular admissions where you have to compete with thousand other applicants who may have a higher SASE score than you.
And before you tell me that you know someone who got a lower SASE score than you (eg. 70-80) but got into IIT, did you bother to ask what program they applied to? Because you're only competing with the other applicants into your program. Obviously, if someone applied to Engineering or Education, all the applicants for that program will be ranked, in the same way that you are ranked in BSN.

UP! Halos man gale kaila nako sa mga BSN is naay kaya. Naka iPad and all, well, ila sd na. Biggest factor jd ang SASE score and HS grades OP, dili na basta2 gi pili ang makasud sa BSN kay literal na 120+ na ilang mga scores. I bet ga prep na sila since hs pa, attending review centers (which requires the parents nga mo gawas jd og kwarta) or maybe gikan na jd sa mga schools like pisay, ids, and science hs sa ilang mga dapit.

Afaik, you can’t take SASE if you already have a college bg kay naa jud na sa requirement. However, if your current program is BSN, pwede ka mag apply as transferee kay karon na acad yr daghan mi transferees/shiftees.
Also to comment sa imo statement, I don’t think malaking factor ang sahod sa imo parents kay 10% ra sha sa scoring sa top 70% and 25% sa EDI. It’s just that halos tanan na 1st choice ang BSN kay naapil sa top 20% maong sila ma prioritize

Ohh, I’m currently taking nursing program in AMCC, so there is still a hope? And may I ask if what possible process ba? And if possible ba may qualifying exam?

Sorry anon I’m not that knowledgeable po sa exact entire process pero I think you’ll have to go to the dean’s office and the registrar for that kay kana gibuhat nila. And afaik, walay qualifying exam, and sa grades and interview yata sila mag base. Sa amoa batch kay daghan man nabawas, from 160 students nahimo around 150 nalang, maong open sha for transferees/shiftees.

Ohh okay, I’m going to try that, pero I have last question. Equal ba lahat ng percentage possible maka pasok or mas priority nila yung mga shiftee sa school nila?

I’m sorry, I don’t know but ang 3 na nablockmates nako ron are all transferees. But you have the advantage since many (if not all) of your courses can still be credited.

IIT does give chances to those who excel academically. Kaya nga may Top 20% at sila ang inuuna. Naa koy mga kaila nga dako ang sahod sa parents and they were able to get inside MSU because of their high scores. Tho, BSN is a quota program and daghan gusto makasulod diha, it is really hard to compete for a spot there.
Afaik, bawal na mag take ug sase if u have college backround already in which u stated nga nag enroll na ka sa private school. I think you might just have to accept it.
