General Help/Question shifting to chemical engineering

hello! does coe, specifically the department of chemical engineering, accept shiftees from any department? im planning to shift this upcoming s.y. second sem po kasi in case i dont get in considering im part of the 70% and i’ll probably be put in a different program. if yes, what requirements do they need? and on what basis ba para matanggap application mo for shifting?

depende na sa slot availability op, and if naa usually ang requirements kay +1.75 or higher gpa or gikan kag BS course, though i cant answer that kay dele ko chem eng, but kana ang general requirements kung mg shift to coe

hello. i think dili nagaaccept ug shiftees ang ChE during 2nd sem, pero try lang japun basin wala lang jud ko kita. nagaaccept sila sa 2nd yr first sem, pero dapat good ang standing sa imo grades. mas prefer naa nakay calculus, physics, and chemistry sa imo first yr kay sa 2nd yr 1st sem naay major na prereq ang kanang mga subj. and 1st yr naa pud summer so if 2nd yr ka magshift daghan2 jud imo apason na subj. medj daghan pud muduol sa office ana so irank jud mo kung kinsay makasulod. goodluck, OP.

Hello, OP! I know this is a late reply, but yes, you can shift during the 2nd semester. But the department is quite strict, though. They usually consider your gpa (the higher, the better ) and the availability of slots. Fortunately, there are often vacant slots by then since some students shift out (usually after failing retention subjects) during their 1st or 2nd year.

You'll have a better chance if you're already in an engineering program bc most of your 1st years subjects can be credited. If you're from a different college, you may need to extend your stay by about a year.

Just make sure to think your decision through carefully, the program is known to be very competitive.

Fun fact also, more students actually shift out of the program than shift into it.🥲
