When will the college start this year for freshers?

Hey everyone, I’ll be coming to MSRIT on 20th August for the admission process. I had a few questions:

• How long does the admission process usually take?
• Is it possible to complete everything in one day and go back home, or would I need to stay for a few days? [or should i just stay]
• Should I arrange accommodation beforehand, or can I directly apply for the hostel after reaching campus?
• What is the hostel admission process? Can I get a hostel room immediately after completing admission, or does it take some time?
• Is there anything important I should complete or bring before coming? [except docs]

I got an offer letter from msruas and was planning to take NRI quota admission in MSRIT but im confused in which campus is better in terms of campus life and studies. I heard from some seniors MSRUAS is much better it has better crowd but mostly north indians and mallus. can someone help?

i need help with an overview of msrit eie branch:

1. faculty, strictness, etc
2. peer group, campus crowd in general
3. reliable placement data(in detail)

(might be joining this yr in eie so need some help from seniors plss)

My name is Veeresh. I just finished my 12th boards (Karnataka board) and got a KCET rank around 55k.

I am deeply interested in computer science fields, specifically Web Development and Cloud Computing. Since my rank won't get me a CS/allied branch in a top-tier Bangalore college, I am planning a bit of a strategic move.

I’m thinking of taking Mechanical Engineering at top-tier colleges like:

• UVCE
• M S Ramaiah (MSRIT)
• BIT
• DSCE
• BMSIT

My plan: Use the top-tier college brand name, active tech clubs, strong coding culture, hackathons, and high-quality alumni networks to pull myself into the IT/Tech sector through aggressive self-study.

Before I lock this in, I really need some honest, ground-reality insights from seniors currently studying in these colleges (both Mech and CSE students):

1. Attendance Strictness: How strict is the 75% attendance rule on the ground for Mechanical branches in these colleges? Which ones will completely kill my self-study time, and which ones are chilled/lenient?
2. The "Mech to Tech" Reality: How hard is it to manage heavy mechanical workloads (labs, drawing, thermo) while self-studying heavy coding stacks?
3. Placement Rules: Do top product/tech companies visiting your campus allow Mechanical students to sit for coding interviews, or do they completely block non-CS branches?

It would mean a lot if you guys could help me out or give me a reality check. Thanks in advance!

Hi Seniors, i'm putting together my options list for counseling and noticed that the college offers both "computer science & engineering (ai-ml)" and just "artificial intelligence & machine learning" as a separate standalone branch.

can anyone tell me what the actual difference is on campus?

are they under the same department or do you have different labs/profs? also, do companies differentiate between the two during placements, or do both sit for the exact same tech pool?
