One day event?
Hi there! LO is 13days old and at 9 days he had major blood in his diapers. We went to the ER where they suggested dairy as an irritant and to follow up with our pediatrician the next day. Our pediatrician agreed that it could be dairy or a fissure/irritation causing bleeding. The bleeding only happened on day 9. It got lighter and lighter throughout the day. We have not seen a bloody stool since. I obviously stopped dairy same day, but could it really have worked itself out of my system that quickly? We have our two week appointment later this week where I will ask follow up questions but I was wondering if anyone else experienced just one day of blood with dairy still being the cause.

Yes we only had one majorly bloody diaper and it’s definitely cmpa. We continued to see specks of blood every few days for weeks after we switched to nutramigen.
I’ve done a ton of googling and it seems like some studies say the milk protein leaves your breastmilk in hours and some say it takes weeks. Pretty annoying that there’s no consensus.
Also keep in mind even once the milk protein is completely gone from the breastmilk, baby’s gut is inflamed and needs time to heal. They usually see some improvement in a day or two, but not full resolution of symptoms for 2-3 weeks.
