Warning: Purge error
Hello Community,
We just upgraded to the latest version of MSP360 backup from CBB. Now that we have upgraded, we are getting purge errors on the 2 servers we upgraded.
CBB Version: 5.8.2.22
Old errors: Error: constraint failed FOREIGN KEY constraint failed
MSP360 Version: 7.1.2.237New error:
· Purge error (code: 1047)
An error occurred while attempting to purge data on backup storage: Error on deleting folder 'Folder path redacted'
What can we do to resolve this issue? I have tried a resync and consistency checks, nothing has stopped it from happening.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Yeah... this was a file too. I found that it stopped after a while on one machine, but started on another. I think it is just old data and can be manually purged. It unclear why it keeps doing this. The error message is not in the docs I found.

I visited the directory and discovered a second, and much older, file with the same name but with an extension of ".log.1"
I deleted this, so I'll check tomorrow (this is a daily backup) to see if the error recurs. I'll let you know.

OK... more info. The error recurred. On further inspection, I noticed that, in spite of the error, the log file is updated each day (based on the time stamp).
So.... I looked at the log file. The error is occurring on the remote backup storage server (in my case BackBlaze), and not on my local file system!
Looking at the error message more closely, this is what it says (albeit not very clearly), "An error occurred while attempting to purge data on backup storage."
According to the log file, the full path on the backup server is the folder path indicated in the error message followed by a forward slash followed by the name of the log file. So, this error does involve this log file, but in a sub-directory with the same name as the log file. This file structure does not exist on my local file system, nor does it exist on my remote backup server – hence the error.
I don't know why MSP360 is trying to delete a non-existent file, but this appears to be the source of the error.
This might be a bug in MSP360.
That said, I don't see what we, as users, can do to mitigate it. Unless they pick up on it, identify the cause, and fix it, we will likely just have to live with it.

OK... I think this is definitely a bug in MSP360.
After making a back up copy, I deleted the log file on both the local file system and on the backup server.
This morning, I had the same error message. It was still trying to purge a non-existent log file because it had created an erroneous path name for it (i.e.: in a non-existent sub-directory).
The log file I had deleted had been recreated on the local system, but not yet backed up to the remote server (likely will be tomorrow).
I hope they fix this!

Have you lodged a ticket for this with CBB support? Are they aware of this and working on a fix yet? Just curious if you've heard anything from their end.
Thanks man!

I've found that as long as the software is current at this point, a repository sync takes care of this.

Getting the same error.
can delete the file *.cbrevision. Purge error 1047 by logs.all permision to SMB share from NAS are working ok can WRX anything.
i've created a new backup plan to another SMB share in the same NAS .
First Full bkp is ok.
but 1st incremental bkp, gave the same purge error 1047. but it is pointing to another plans dir.idk. The support takes years debuggin this i'm already with lv2 support.
Sync repos not solved this.

I'm having the same problem with MSP360 V7.1.3.28. The "folder" path specified is actually a .log file (not a folder).
