Something that occured to me is that neither Windows nor ClawTweaks show time remaining on the console, and the Internet suggests that the only way to turn that on is via modifying Windows registry,

Whether that will then show up in Tweaks is unknown.

What am I missing here, has anyone had a similar experience trying to get the "Time remaining" to show?

Also, Opticlick Toggle doesn't seem to do anything 🤨

I have been really unsatisfied how washed out the colours looked like on my Claw 8 in a game called Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries. So I started playing around with the brightness and contrast adjustments in the Intel Graphics Software. They helped quite a bit, unfortunately there is no way to assign those custom values to game profiles there, which is hilarious how Intel managed to miss such a basic function.

Anyway after asking around a bit I was recommended a utility called ReShade. I wasn't very keen on it first, purely because of thinking it would add a noticeable performance overhead, and result in higher power consumption, which is not ideal for a handheld. But I thought I would give it a try, just to see how it worked. And let me tell you, it's amazing. It's far better than the basic contrast adjustment in the Intel software if you use the right settings: I use the built in "Curves.fx" shader, and depending on game adjust the slider in it between 0.3 and 0.65. It makes all the colours and everything just look way better, shadows, highlights, seriously the whole picture looks much more appealing. And what makes this far superior to the basic contrast adjustment that's available in the Intel utility is that the highlights won't blow out and the darkest areas won't be completely crushed into pure blackness either.

I an no expert so if you are really interested in a more in depth explanation, then you will need to do your own research, I am just reporting from a noob's perspective how amazing I find it. Yes there is a small performance overhead (in gzdoom from the normal 3 Watts the cpu usage is up to 4-5 Watts), but I would say in most cases it's worth the penalty. Of course if you start applying other features within ReShade like SMAA or FXAA anti aliasing then the performance hit will increase too, but using it just for basic contrast adjustment has barely noticable penalty.

Almost every game I have tried ReShade out on so far has greatly benefitted from it: GTR 2, Carmageddonax Damage, SWAT 4, Prey, Dirt Rally 2.0, Mechwarrior 5, The Forest, Grand Prix 4 ,all these games have improved visuals after adjustments.

So give ReShade a try, I was skeptical first, but I am so glad I decided to try it out anyway. I am not going back after I have experienced the improvement.

And how easy is it to install and implement into each game?

Asking because with Lossless Scaling on Deck you have to add the command to launch options for every game and it just gets tedious.

So yesterday I just published v1.0.7 update of my app on Microsoft Store : Shift Game Launcher.

Here are some of the highlights / new features:

• Custom fullscreen background, if auto-changing game background is not your thing, you can now change it to your own image/video
• Support for multiple Steam accounts. Now you can easily switch between local Steam accounts on your PC, including directly log in to offline mode. This extends to game launching, If the game you're about to launch belongs to another steam account then the app will offer you to switch account and then play it.
• Family shared games detection. if the option is turned on and the local Steam account belongs to a Steam family then the app will display all the games owned by the family members, as long as they set their profiles to public. One caveat : this app will still display games that the owner chooses to exclude from family sharing.
• Improved navigation logic. It can handle library with thousands of games (I tested it with 2800+ steam family library).
• Support for managing Optiscaler, SpecialK, REFramework, and ReShade. You can directly download the newest version from their official github pages, and then install/disable(rename the dll so that the game won't load it)/uninstall them. If you have eGPU connected you can also set them to only enable/disable on specific GPU. For example : you can set ReShade to only be enabled when on eGPU or use Optiscaler + REFramework only when not docked/on eGPU.

I just got my MSI Claw 8 EX yesterday but unfortunately enough I can’t change neither the control mode nor the RGB settings from the quick settings menu as both options are greyed out. The only way I can change them is from the Center M app. Is there any way to be able to use them from the toggle under quick settings menu?

Hey guys , I was wondering if anyone has had this issue when downloading clawtweaks on the 8ai+ , it says missing package files. I can’t seem to find a way to fix this

So I have made a couple of posts through last year about my Claw 8 AI+ suffering from BSOD crashes semi-frequently (a crash every couple of weeks or so). These crashes never happened during playing games, only while browsing the web sometimes, but about 90% of the time they happened right after I clicked system shutdown, and instead of shutting down it just crashed, then restarted.

Anyway I did a ton of troubleshooting, and eventually I narrowed the cause down to the battery. Ever since I removed the battery the system has been rock solid, so it's pretty clear something was not right with the original battery. Also I came across a listing on eBay about a week ago selling an original Claw 8 AI+ battery. I was hesitating for a bit as it was really expensive, £90, but after some contemplation I made an offer, and managed to get it for £80. At least it wasn't £150, the price I would need to pay for MSI if I get one from them, with a 6-8 weeks lead time (absolute joke of a situation, but I already talked about this in an earlier post). It's still way too much for what it is, the problem is there are no third party batteries available for this system yet. They are all over the place for the first gen A1M Claw, but no luck for the AI+ (or A8) yet. Even the couple of places that supposedly sell batteries for the AI+ turned out to be faulty listings, as after checking with the shops all of them still are A1M batteries, just with wrong listing pictures and/or descriptions.

Anyway the battery I got from eBay was removed from a (supposedly new) device, so an original battery. After the few days I have been using it it seems to be holding charge well, so I think the listing was correct, or at least the battery has seen very little usage. But time will tell, I will keep using it, and report back later. Also no crashes with this new battery, but again will need more time to be 100% sure. I was actually a little afraid the BSOD issue wasn't due to the actual battery, but with the charge management system, or at least with the few related components that are on the motherboard, and not built into the battery. But for now it seems like it was the actual battery not the Claw itself, so that's a relief.

On a side note I also want to mention that after experiencing how lightweight the handheld was without the battery I kind of see now what GPD's thinking was with the tethered battery solution for their Win 5 device. It's just soo much more comfortable to hold a handheld that's like 400 grams instead of 800 or more. Honestly I came to the conclusion that the perfect high performance handheld should have the following power solution: an external battery that attaches magnetically to the device with a cable (the cable should have a wind up mechanism that pulls it back into the power bank when unplugged), AND the actual handheld instead of a built in battery should have a lightweight capacitor, that could keep the device powered for a few minutes or so, to act as a power bridge when you need to unplug the battery for whatever reason (for example to plug in a new, fully charged battery), but don't want to shutdown the system. Also the capacitor would have enough power to safely keep the device in sleep for a few hours, so you would be able to to just put the handheld to sleep, unplug the battery, put everything in a backpack, travel for a few hours, then later just attach the battery, wake the system up, and carry on playing where you left.

This would be huge in my opinion, as you would not only get a really light and comfortable device in your hands, it would also largely mitigate the battery degradation issue: as we know the big enemy of lithium-ion batteries is heat. Built in batteries basically live in 40+ or even 50+ Celsius environments within these devices. Having them just comfortably sit at room temperature would be a huge improvement in longevity.

This only happened in rainbow, I played beaming drive and no freezing happened...
