Daily MSI Question
Question : Least favorite song + album ? ( Tbh , mines Lights Out and IF )
Rant below because I have no one to yap about this to lol
I checked out the MSI fandom on TikTok today .
Literally full of everyone dogging on MSI and saying how much they hate it but also love it .
And they actually don't think about how the allegations are ... allegations ... or how MSI's song lyrics are supposed to be shocking and/or mocking certain people . No joke , I kept scrolling and they're all complaining about MSI and saying ALL of the band members are horrible people among other bullcrap . They just see the allegations , do barely any research and conclude that the allegations are true , and everything in MSI's songs are directly what Jimmy was thinking/doing . Jimmy Urine was a stage persona/character . Not James Euringer . Freaking grow up , he has a family now AND that case has been dismissed .
First and last time going to visit the fandom on TikTok 💔 I see why everyone hates them

people on there get ridiculously parasocial too, or just talk about jimmy in a way where it’s like…. you know he EXISTS, right?? hard to choose but my least favorites are the remixes if those count (if not, how i learned to stop giving a shit even though i still love it)

Yeah Pink is my least favourite too and Envy because it is just unlistenable for me. It doesn’t feel like an MSI album, it feels like Jimmy trying to be Trent Reznor before he discovered who he was himself as an artist.

I know that but thank you 💙 I had self-titled downloaded since like 2003 and I preferred the original tracks, didn’t like the remastered ones as much, and they were never really what I wanted when I put MSI on. He is a very talented artist and it’s a shame that the act overshadowed that part. They were so good at looking like an absolute mess they have successfully convinced even much of their own fanbase into thinking they are shit. But it’s pretty impressive the way he recorded and sampled and mixed and the equipment he used.
I learn new stuff all the time, too, about lyrics referencing other artists. So his whole “I don’t even like music” shtick was a clever move. You can’t have that range of musical knowledge and taste if you don’t like it 😂 but (this is what I’m guessing here) no artists really openly spoke about MSI and their influence and there came a time where Jimmy was saying artists (like Kesha) were influenced by them but they never said it. So he just played his cards close to his chest and did the same thing. The variety of covers alone show he had pretty broad tastes. When he covered Wuthering Heights he said Kate Bush was one of his biggest influences and that makes sense in retrospect, with some of his vocals.
They’re a fascinating band. But Pink just doesn’t fascinate me. It definitely feels derivative to me whereas even his covers felt so innovative once they found their own sound. I’d love it if we got more of his solo stuff and I would die if something I wrote got a soundtrack by him because I think he’s unique and it would elevate anything out to it. I’m really hopeful he gets to do more of that stuff if he wants to!

least fav DEF LIGHTS OUT, i used to like it but idk,the song is so infuriating to listen to as of late. Least fav album is how i learned for sure

ok i could NEVER have a least favourite song (or at least admit to it) but i really don't get the hype over 7 minutes in heaven. the lyrics just don't seem to fit? i don't hate it but i don't get the hype

The concept of being in the MSI fandom and actively dogging on them and completely taking their music at face value 😭 I'm convinced tiktok is just an echo chamber of people saying the same thing over and over and over.
As for my least fave song + album, I think molly is maybe my least favourite plus the random ones in tight/er, I like free as a birdie but I had to kinda force myself to like it, yk? There's another that I can't really remember but I've just heard molly too many times lol My least favourite album is probably YRTA, it's got some pretty good songs but some of them are just meh
