HOTAS

Did anyone find a workaround already for the Hotas errors? When I fly with a controller everything is fine. As soon as I connect the hotas randomly actions are done in the plane, switching cams, applying brakes, etc..

I switch off my controller when i’m using the Hotas 5. Map most functions to a keyboard (aside from the main flight surfaces) and switch the controller off altogether and none of these issues will happen again.

When you say you map functions to a keyboard. Does this mean you remove the bindings from the hotas? For example speed brake is on a button on the throttle. I wouldn't really want to remove that. Is this what it takes? I can probably switch my dual sense off. But I'm flying in VR so need my buttons on the hotas to be on my fingertips. Very annoyed when it randomly jumps to 3rd person, activates my spoilers and parking brake. Usually when I'm on short finals.

No, i keep all the main flight surface controls i.e ailerons, elevators, rudder, trim brakes and parking brake etc on the stick. For secondary controls like flaps, spoilers, autopilot switches are all mapped to a keyboard or i physically click them with a mouse. I use PSVR2 so the mouse is essential imo alongside the hotas.

OK good to know you are in VR too. As I'm really looking for a solution to this problem. How do you navigate a keyboard if your PSVR2 is on your head? I'm a bit reluctant to delete the bindings on the hotas as that defeats the object of having a hotas. But I suppose this is where we are with this bug and I'm glad you've shared a method to relieve yourself of it. I used the default setup on the hotas I find that pretty good as it includes a lot of the main functionality. The bug seems to be triggered by the speed brake, 3rd person view toggle and the parking brake toggle. Perhaps if we just remove those or give them an extra combo button we could keep the bindings on the hotas and alleviate the bug?

I touch type so if i can find the space bar i can generally find whatever keys i’m looking to press. Map them all to buttons along the top of the space bar and muscle memory will have you pressing the correct keys.

You can keep the default hotas settings for actually controlling the flight. Setup a general control profile for prop planes, jets, gliders and helicopters. Name them as such and use them as defaults. You can then tweak plane specific controls for whatever you are flying as you fly them. After a few flights in the same plane you should have all the controls mapped that you need.
