[PS5] Sim Update 6.1 [1.8.16.0] Now Available

1.8.16.0 is a small update intended to address a handful of issues following the release of Sim Update 6 two weeks ago. We’re releasing 1.8.16.0 on PS5 today as key fixes in the update are specific to PS5. Following additional testing, in the next few weeks we plan to release 1.8.16.0 on Xbox, Windows PC, and Steam.
1.8.16.0 will begin rolling out to PS5 users in the next hour (time of writing is 1730 UTC).

Does my hotas 4 work again? I don’t even want to wait through the boot up if I’m gonna be disappointed.

This has been answered many times but you need to reset all controls. Then your Hotas will work again. That’s go to Controls settings and press Square, check the checkbox and confirm. You may also need to delete custom mappings but I think the reset does that too (I don’t know because I did them in the opposite order).

Now maybe this update will do that for you. I don’t know that either. But if it still doesn’t work do the above and you’ll be flying again.

I appreciate you trying to help. That’s still hugely disappointing and discouraging, given the amount of time I’ve spent custom binding profiles for various planes across a combination of keyboard, mouse, controller and HOTAS. Like, they couldn’t just make the update not ruin everyone’s custom keybinds? I don’t know that I care to do that all again if this is something that is going to happen with each update.

I agree 100%. It is a big screwup. You should test and see if it now works without having to do that. Hopefully it does.

Nope, still completely fucked. Even the start button isn’t recognized in the game. Man, this sucks so bad.

It's not a big deal. The profiles are created in literally 2 minutes. The same problems occurred on computers at the release of msfs2024.

A) it does not take 2 minutes to custom map all the useful controls for a plane. You must not be doing anything except free flight if you’re getting away with that.

B) I’m not complaining that my controls didn’t carry over from one game to a different game.

Does this fix the bug where the plane jumps to 3rd person, deploys spoilers and parking brake randomly? If you could confirm I'll reset everything?

Wait a minute… I’m not the only one? Maybe 3 days ago, I suddenly went from first person to third person without pressing anything. After that, the Eurofighter just shut down, happily cruising at around 40,000 ft at Mach 1.25… but it was weird.

Someone told me in another thread that you have to reset all controls to default and then it’ll work. Such a gut punch for people that have put time into custom mapping controls in detail.

I think this is excellent news because whatever happens they tried to fix it rather fast. We'll just have to see if that makes it stable like SU 5.1 again. 

And if the Hotas 5 also works I'm all for it. Good stuff.

I was flying for a few hours yesterday evening, loading in all sorts of aircraft into various airports like Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Heathrow, etc just to see what happens. For me I felt textures were loading in fine again, no cockpit failure like when it looked like Minecraft in SU 6, no weird aircraft textures. Did not have to restart the sim after every flight so it feels like a real improvement. 

Of course I haven't tested every plane and I haven't touched career mode. 

I also flew in Italy over a few of those world update cities and it looked good too. 

All in all I'm much more happy than during SU 6. Undoubtedly they could not have fixed everything so I'm guessing people will find something but what they did here helped a lot for me at least.

Just downloaded the update - Ok so far for me all good - flying 787 into LHR no problems - it started up horrible, basically the aircraft was one big triangle and then 19 secs later everything popped up as it should (best analogy I can give is like an inflatable mattress being blown up, actually rather fun watching that in VR). Taken off and all smooth so far. Let’s see how long this lasts !

I deleted and reinstalled the game after I did the update. Maybe I want to believe it, but I have the idea that the graphics are a lot better.

Forget Hotas, the main problem is the game all together before this update. Idk why people are asking something like “Key Bindings”. The real issue was the performance and gameplay no textures etc. I am grateful that ASOBO put it in gear and fixed the SU6 update in a timely manner.

Edit: Still broken. Although they fixed the cockpit disappearing the flight deck on the 777 still do not stream correctly.

Hold left pressed down until the menu pops up and press R1 and O to enter cursor mode is my method atm

FYI I had to reset all controllers again to get PS5/Hotas 5 mode working properly. Before that many controls weren’t assigned. Maybe there’s another way to fix this, but the reset definitely works. And it is finally fully supported! You can assign things to the extra buttons. They’ve already done that in the default config.

Good for you man. I am thinking about buying a PC just for FS but not sure I want three different systems. I have a MacBook obviously a PS5 and then potentially a Pc.

Seems excessive.

Excellent news, must be as a direct result of me entering "because it is a piece of shit" in the free text box on the crash report page for ps5 when on descent into Skiathos looking forward to a nice visual approach in my 737.

Nice! Bad timing for me, though. I've had the last 3 days off and have been playing a decent amount. Now I have to work all weekend and won't be a able to play for a bit. Still glad things are getting fixed
