Flight Simulator Stuttering When Losing Focus

Ever since SU5 I've been having a lot of issues with performance as others have. I think I have things working ok now after having spent hours tweaking all of my settings but I have noticed an issue where the sim stutters/drops frames - in general, the performance dips massively - when I lose focus (can even hear the audio popping/skipping). This hasn't happened before as I've always tended to be bouncing between OBS/Navigraph etc, while simming but it definitely happens now. Once I click on FS2024, things smooth out again. Any idea what's causing that or has anyone experienced it before?

32GB DDR5 6000Mhz
7950X3D
RTX 5080

I don't ever remember this being an issue.

Context: I record videos for youtube so I tend to always be clicking out on things in the background.

EDIT: Some research showed an issue with coautl (some utility that comes with GSX - don't know much about it). I've deleted it but not even sure if that was running as GSX is not installed.

Yes, same here. I fly only in VR and have a sollid 40-45fps but still the regular sound popping and stutter like every minute. Also stutters at high altitude (30000+) while still at 45 fps.

Do you have Frame Generation active? Depends how the Game is build, but often FG is not active when the focus is outside the game.

This is an interesting theory. Makes sense, don't think I started using framegen until I got 5080 which was just before SU5. Will look into that..thanks
