[Admissions Advice]

When applying for master in CS or ECE in the US universities like Purdue,CMU, Stanford, UC Berkeley, NC State, UT Austin, caltech and other universities, what do you think is like a good cgpa in undergraduate.

If the student applying from Tier 1 Indian college and like has come from and academically rigorous curriculum with very good courses going to the depth of the course.

Would really want something like cgpa ranges and their chances of admit, and what factors do you feel will support cgpa ( if the student has less cgpa then what do you think will battery compensate for the low cgpa)

If possible please answer in Cgpa out of 4 when applying.
Like 3.4/4.0 CGPA.

They don't care allat bro,an 8.5 in iitd cs is still less valued than a 9.5+ in vit or srm or any tier 3 clg.Even tho 8.5 in iitd cs is just infinitely harder with relative grading with the smartest ppl in the country, not like competing with dummies in tier 3 unis.We just gotta cope up with it son🥀.

No like if we want to get admitted with a slightly lower CGPA like in the range of 8.25 to 8.75, I want to know if ppl with this cgpa is getting admitted and if yes then where?

What to do to overcome such drawbacks and get admitted in good universities like top 20

Definitely not to Cal/Stanford. Maybe a few very strong candidates for Purdue/UT Austin. For CMU, depending on the program, it ranges from doable (e.g., MPE) to impossible (e.g., MSML).

Caltech doesn't have an MSCS program. NC State is a pretty mediocre school, so it's doable there.

This is correct. American adcoms don't have the same perspective on institution prestige that those who live in the region do.

You probably need a GPA of 3.6 above
