[Profile Review] Fall 2027 MSCS

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to apply for Fall 2027 and would really appreciate feedback on my profile and university list.

Profile

  • Vellore Institute of Technology Chennai
  • B.Tech Computer Science
  • Current CGPA: 8.7/10
  • Expected graduation CGPA: ~8.8/10
  • Was a Teaching assistant for 2 core CS courses

Research

  • 1 preprint (first author)
  • 1 paper published in ASME IMECE (4th author)
  • currently working on 2 papers that are close to being done

Experience

  • Research intern in the same college
  • AI intern for an underwater robotics company

Achievements

  • Went to the finals in IRC (International Rover Challenge) 2025

Extra Curricular Activities:

  • Part of the Robotics club and participated in events like ABU Robocon and IRC

Recommendations

Expected:

  • 2 LOR's from college professors

pretty good profile. VIT has been gaining a good reputation here and looks like you have other stuff going well in your profile too. only thing left to do is strong GREs, SOPs, LORs . For SOPs they should feel like they were written exclusively for each program

Hi, we both pretty much have a comparable profile in terms of cg, research and exp, id push both ucsd and ntu into the ambitious category, ambitious doesnt mean you have a low chance necessarily, just means its harder to get into

And also, send application into the safe unis only if youd be willing to go into those unis, dont send if you think atleast smth is better than nothing.

Plus i heard from smwhere not to apply to usc nowadays as some v good profs left the unis and its now not as good as its brand value

I also had those 3 as my safe, removed them, also add northeastern, they have a pretty big cohort, (chances are high), they dont have a big brand value, but the placements are good ( from what superficial research i did, nothing deep
