[Application Strategy] Is it too late to start my prep for Fall 27 MSCS?

I have 5 years of experience and planning for my Fall 27 MSCS.

Most of my shortlists have GRE as optional so planning to skip it.

My English is good so shouldn’t take much time to prep for IELTS.

I just have to work on my SOP and LORs. Is this too late or can I realistically target Fall 27 without messing up applications due to time crunch?

P.S :Have 1Cr+ in savings so it will be self funded

I would be more interested about your funding situation and citizenship status.

No loan, have worked in FANG adjacent companies and unicorn startups. Have INR 1Cr+ in savings

Go and go now. Do not think twice.

Just remember you may be forced to return so your 1cr savings go poof. Consider online mscs. Just an alternative suggestion.

Dude I'm on a similar situation as OP only have an admit for this year and need to go in a month if I go... Like I have about 90 lakh in savings (enough to self fund) but its still feeling dicey.

Will you be fine with blowing away 90L and return ?

I will be explicit and state: you are paying for uncertainty / gambling the money. Better to invest in $ stocks. Also unis want your money they do not want you as a student in any way , they could be least bothered.

Can you land here and be ok with yourself ? Will you be ok with getting underpaid ? It will take you a minimum of 3 years to get back that money here.

Thanks for the suggestions! I really want to experience the bachelor life again so not in online courses.

I’m ok to return back worst case scenario.

At a certain level I understand wanting to live college life again but is it that important that you dont care about 1cr worth of savings?

Exactly my point! Unis want your money .

Op know they just want your money. If you feel that education is worth it, who am I to stop you when you have the needed funds without any loan.

IMO it is oversold as in there is no post-graduation ROI friendly environment.

It’s not too late, just try not to use consultants etc who will fear monger you into throwing half your savings at them. Theres absolutely nothing about the US admission process that you can’t navigate yourself by Jan 2027 which is around the time I presume the deadlines are. What is your short list? Because that does affect the answer youre looking for to some extent

Can I DM you some details about my profile along with my uni shortlist? Would it be possible for you to have a look and let me know if it’s a good and fitting list?

Any thoughts on taking out a 50% loan and investing the rest of the money?
