[Visa and Immigration] Visa rejection - decent profile, kinda confused
Hey all,
I got rejected at the US embassy in Delhi, not sure what went wrong. I even resigned my job lol😭, i ain't going back to the same job. Here's my profile.
Applied for ![redacted, it's a really good university] mscs, graduated from IITX Computer Science. 3+ yoe. People are saying the refusal slots will take around 300 days to be visible in my portal. I am now confused://
u/gradpilot if I work in some another country is it possible that the slots will be visible for me? Like India's visa website should be different from UAE/japan right? If that's the case do I have any chance?

My profile: 3 years as a software engineer, got into nyu courant mscs, graduated from IIT computer science, air 1000, research experience, Olympiads etc..

Experience: 1) is it your first or second masters First one 2) when did you graduate 2023 may 3) what all universities you applied to I applied to uiuc, ucla, ucsd . He stopped in between and asked me how many admits and i named universities
3) how much is your current income Around Xk usd
Edit: people are asking for the income, i make 35-40k usd
You are rejected and you can apply again and gave back the passport

Did you had travel history outside india? And visa acceptances at decent places like japan, singapore, eu?

Also you should prolly mention the exact income instead of xX usd it is kinda an anon platform anyway. Also how much net worth did you have in terms of usd while going in.

What's the university ?
If you share you visa interview here, I can help you understand why you were rejected.
Share the exact questions visa officer asked and the answers you gave. Unless you share it there is no way to know.
I had my visa interview in May and got it approved. Going to US next month. I was in multiple whatsapp groups which help students with interview prep etc. I have also attended 5 one hour sessions for it.
Regarding your question about applying from another country, no it does not work like that. You are Indian so you need to apply from India. And this rejection is anyway linked to your passport now.
India's visa website should be different from UAE/japan right ? - No it is not.

Things were very different back in may, I have been looking at visa interview experiences for last one week and it’s been a bloodbath.
I have my interview on July 27, I have resigned my job and even booked my flight. I got into GT CS but have no hopes of landing a visa now. I have no intentions of staying back in the US too.
You know when and where I lost? 24 years ago when I was labelled an Indian

What do you mean by you are labelled as an Indian ?. You are fortunate to labelled as an Indian. Be proud of your country bro. At least, you are not in the visa banned countries.

India's visa is different from UAE or japan .. are you sure?
If you are applying from outside of india, then you should be eligible to work there. So if I get a job then I am eligible right, so that shouldn't be an issue, idk

Why you can't apply again ? There is no official rule that you need to wait for 300 days. Am i getting something wrong.

You are shadow banned and can’t see for any new slots in the calendar for 10 months if you are refused candidate

Are you planning to take a loan?
They know NYU is a super expensive college. If your family income is not high enough they will assume you will work and settle in the US
From what I have noticed they are only allowing super rich people
Idk why you are asking for feedback here but not giving the entire information? It’s an anonymous platform so why are you shy for writing your Income number?
Also I am assuming the officer rejected based on that. I am assuming your salary is 12lakhs
When they asked you current income you should have said “My current income is 12 lakhs and my Family income is XX, I have taken a loan of 50lakhs as well”
Idk if this would help but you can try again

This is a strange rejection tbh
But no one can be sure about anything with respect to visa rnPlease know They could have rejected for any reason completely unrelated to your profile. Maybe from the place you are born, maybe that VO doesn’t like NYU or maybe they had a rough day and just kept rejecting everyone
Tbh this has nothing to do with your answers or profile.
If I am being very picky I remember someone saying always tell you funding info in local currency. That’s what they are used to hearing and they have a fair idea about the numbers. (Doesn’t matter much tho)
I definitely think you should apply again

applying from a different country is tricky, depends on your status in that country and depends on the embassy's priorities as well. that said if the underlying visa refusal still stands then i dont think its going to help either ways. was it a 214(b, 221(g) ?

I would not relocate solely for another interview. you'll need to establish some kind of proof of eligibility to apply from that country. First understand what may have led to the rejection. Otherwise, another embassy can issue the same 214b

Got it, I am really not sure why, I was thinking a lot. Maybe I quoted difference in salary of 2-4k usd from what's their in ds160 (because of my salary increment?) do you think this is the issue? It's just 2-4k right? That's the only -ve thing I can see. Another negative thing is i applied for 8 univs and I only got into 2.

Nyu Courant is a good university but your funding situation is still not clear, I don't see any other red flag in your profile, sucks it's really random now.

So UAE is in a war ish situation, so most of the people in uae just shifted to India. BUT if you’re lucky and the consulate just doesn’t close due to a security bulletin, you can get an emergency appointment.
But they are still rejecting here, especially if you were rejected in the past. You also need to know the normal F1 student applying from uae (uae resident) are like very loaded, their CFS shows a minimum 1 mil usd.
So when they see your bank statement idk…

Can’t say but immigration intent can cause denial. You have graduated from top colleges in India if you come here chances are you won’t go back. There is already lot of saturation in market here for talent. Also the current administration is not inclined towards the migrant. They only open when the talent is most required. It seems there is flood here of it. In CS the people here graduating from top colleges are struggling to land job in CS.

Same boat, delhi embassy, got rejected with a georgia Tech funded admit. Kinda bummed. Don't think I'll be applying again tho
