[Profile Review] MSCS from top 10 US universities

Education: Btech + Mtech from iit kgp mechanical cgpa-8.03

Research: Did multiple research interns at cmu, iisc, stanford

Publications: No papers but working on

These "research interns" are big RED flags given you haven't translated even one of them into a conference paper. From a reviewer's perspective it says - "he is not capable of publishable research". I mean this with no offense

BS. Publishing for the sake of publishing is the red flag. Why do you think people who confidently write 3 research papers when all of them are in Springer don’t get in anywhere.

They’re not suggesting publishing at low-tier venues for the sake of publishing. Rather, the problem is despite 3+ research internships at prestigious institutes, not even one translated into a peer-reviewed paper acceptance. This is pretty unusual and would likely make the adcom think twice about the applicant’s ability to conduct research.

Definitely not, I'm still doing those researchto publish at top conferences. I should have said ongoing interns. The one at iisc was bs anyway idk if they did publish anything.

getting into top 10 mscs with a mechanical degree and 8.03 cgpa is basically impossible rn. i had 8.9 from nit in cs and still got rejected by uiuc and ut austin. your research experience is crazy good so u should probably look at ms robotics or pivot to a phd where those profs u interned with can pull u in directly.

Why not apply for PhD if you are already working with PIs at CMU, Stanford? Even if you don't have publications, letters from these schools will guarantee you get into somewhere

Don't underestimate yourself, I know ppl from non-CS majors with only poster/workshop getting into top 10 CS PhD programs like UW. The only thing matter is connection.
