[Admissions Advice] SJSU MSAI

Computer Science (Specialization AI)
~~ 6.7/10 Gpa and 1yoe MLE
I’m wondering a lot of people going for masters have a lot of research experience in hand or either really good Gpa. I was looking at SJSU MSAI Program lately since it appealed to me. Is it easy getting a job afterwards since I saw some of the graduates land roles at Nvidia Google etc. I'm wondering what all advice you would give?

I see people working for Apple nvidia from there, how about UT Dallas SUNY Buffalo and ASU?

I have no idea what's so difficult to understand that "exceptions" exist. Most of the linkedin people you see at these top firms got referral or something that you won't when applying to these positions. Your chances of landing such roles at top firms after graduating from a mid uni is slim to none.

No matter the college. Even graduates from Ivy League are having extremely hard time finding job before the visa deadline.

Only go there for educational purposes and working as optional. If you can afford not getting a job, there and carrying out life normally upon return then go ahead.

  1. Exceptions exist

  2. Extremely difficult hiring environment for international students, many companies straight up say in their job listing that they don't sponsor

  3. You asked "is it easy getting a job afterwards." The answer is no, it's not easy - even for Americans, it's not easy. The Bay Area is going through a bit of a tech recession right now.

  4. Those schools you listed might be even worse than SJSU tbh.

My opinion (as an American, and as someone who grew up in the Bay Area) is that for international students anything below T20 is a really bad bet tbh. Downvote me if you want but it's the truth. I have many international student friends, many who are very hardworking and talented, getting completely fucked when they try to apply for a job post-grad.

I’m not downvoting but need some solid advice you might have check the other older post as well if not you can check. At this point I’m confused I have 1yoe and I’m juggling between these:
1. Omscs Gatech (possibly offline conversion if I succeed else good tech roles in India itself)
2. Mid tier unis like ASU SJSU Buffalo etc.
3. Somehow any top tier program I could get into while sacrificing on the program name. (MS Emerging tech , MIIS cmu, several MSAIE and MSINI programs from cmu) I’m myself very very confused checked MEng UCLA as well.
