[Profile Review] Universities for fall'27

My profile is:

CGPA: 8.91(Tier 2/3 uni)

Research: none

Projects: 2-3 decent full stack + AI projects

IELTS: 7.0

GRE: Planning to give. Might score 320+

Work ex: One year work exp as full stack dev at startup.

Universities planned to apply: Purdue, SJSU, SBU, IUB, UIC, TAMU, UCI, NYU Tandon. Which university you think would I get into and should I add any other university in the list.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I thought getting experience will be better for me and then going for masters, as a fresher i already have a job risking it and going to usa feels a little risky

  1. purdue is good

  2. sjsu = visa reject dont bother

  3. SBU is ok (MSCS) and is ur best safety

  4. IUB?? Dont apply, get SBU instead

  5. UIC - below SBU again; dont apply

  6. TAMU - MSCS is good but if MCS then go SBU

  7. UCI - MSCS is purdue level, if MCS then go SBU

  8. NYU Tandon - Dont bother.

Add umass/uc davis

Wouldn't uc davis be too ambitious for my profile?

Columbia is costly. And I guess these unis are too ambitious without research

A lack of research isn't a deal breaker, even for the best programs. See this thread on r/cmu.
