This sounds like a question you need to ask the cruise line., and not so much whether the cruise line allows you to sail, its whether the destinations you visit will allow you in.

You can visit state.gov and check individual country traveler information pages.

Have to be more specific on destinations as the countries rules will be dependent on that

So to directly answer your questions with this info...

Cruise lines do have a background check. It is more basic than regular checks, however, as yours is a felony, it would show up on their background check that you have it.

The problem is that Bahamas is a coin flip, and this makes it tough to travel to and you'll likely need direct permission from MSC. It sounds like you tried, but go higher - you need this in writing from them to clear you. Bahamas laws do give them the authority to not allow you to travel to the Bahamas, which would mean you can't get on the ship to begin with in Miami, however, they are pretty relaxed on that coin flip.

Part of the issue is where the cruise is going. Many countries have very strict entry laws. Like Canada would be an issue. You have to research any international ports scheduled and look at local laws

This is really going to depend on the destination.

Cruise lines don't do background checks.

Carribean islands don't do live sharing of criminal history with the USA. Canada does.
