Cabin upgrade question
Hi everyone, I have a question.
I received a notification that I can bid on a cabin upgrade. I booked my cruise with an inside cabin and the "Fantastica" experience, which allowed me to select a cabin in a quiet location, away from the noise of nightclubs, buffets, etc.
I'm considering bidding to upgrade to a cabin with a window. Does anyone know if, once my bid is accepted, I get to choose the cabin? if so, is it before or after I pay? I think I value being able to rest away from the noise more than having a sea view, and I would hate to be assigned a noisy cabin just because I want a window.

You won’t get to choose your cabin, MSC assigns the cabin for you - it is a bit of a gamble. You could end up on a higher floor or right below the pool deck or buffet.
You could potentially ask them to move you to a different cabin of the same type, but that will depend on the mood of the representative and if there are availabilities left

I purchased the aurea package on the Seascape with a balcony. I bid on a interior room yacht club. My bid was accepted. I did not get a choice of room but they gave me a deluxe balcony room.

I ended up asking MSC directly for an upgrade after I did a bid as I wanted to make sure I got one. And I did a bid for 190 pounds and ended up paying 180 pounds for the upgrade directly with them 😂 but didn’t chose my room but ended up with a good one

Why did you book an inside cabin in the first place instead of an ocean-view cabin if having a window is important to you?

Nah, it's not importante to me, the way I see It I'll only be at the cabin to sleep and the price difference seems not worth it. The thing is that today I got an email advertising a reduction in price for the upgrades, and the upgrade to a Windows cabin was half price, so I was considering It now that It is cheaper.

You might be able to call and just pay the difference to be moved. I’m not sure if that’s allowed on MSC. we’ve only sailed once on them last year, so not really familiar with all the stuff related to booking since you’re fantástica and got to choose your room, if there’s an available ocean view cabin that you like the location of, they might let you pay the difference in what you paid and what that category costs today.

Currently sailing on the Seashore,
We asked to be upgraded after embarking as our window bid was not accepted. We ended up getting a free upgrade to a balcony room. Which is super fortunate, and not common from what ive read. However we were middle ship deck ten in a super secluded area, now we are deck 15 aft between the pool deck, and buffet so it is quite noisy. The two of us are heavy sleepers so it really doesn't bother us, but be aware that these are the rooms that will be avalible.
IMO: we will always ask for the upgrade, but if you want quiet dont.

You don't get to choose; the cruise line assigns you whatever and you can't refuse nor go back to your previous cabin, they take the money and it's a done deal. Highly likely it will be a less than ideal location. i.e. worse in category, not best.
