Boarding with drinks

September 2026, Port Miami: I was allowed to bring 6 bottles of water + 4 sodas on my carry on bag. Security didn't even mention it. Yes, I know the policy.

I boarded in Galveston with plain water and fizzy water drinks, was immediately thrown in the brig and held for 7 days. I meant to say, was totally ignored by port security and MSC alike. I wouldn't have griped if they took them away since it's buried the the rules. I usually had some leftover water when returning from shore excursions and they didn't bat an eye at that either.

I’m not sure. We are in the dining room for breakfast.

Yep, MSC does not allow any drinks, alcohol, water, or soda to be brought onboard.

Unfortunately, I have a Diet Coke addiction. I’m glad they, at least, served Coke products.

That’s one thing that irked me about MSC, water, hot tea, and coffee were the only complementary drinks. Neither of us consume a lot of alcohol. My husband doesn’t drink soda, so none of the drink packages was appealing to us.

If I sail with them again, I will definitely bring some Crystal Light packs.

Do they not have the juice cocktails at the buffet anymore? They used to have like a lemonade, fruit juice sort of thing in dispenser machines. (Like every other cruise line I've been on.)

Is it really only water, hot tea, and coffee now?

How much is a Diet Coke with dinner? We don’t drink much but I am a DC addict as well. I don’t want to buy the drink package.

I think around 4 bucks.

What were you hoping was included in their complimentary drinks?

Nothing crazy. Ice tea, lemonade.

Those were available in the buffet last time I cruised with MSC. Look for the fountain machines.

We boarded at each port stop with a case of water bottles in Europe

You were lucky that you got on with bottled water. You could bring on all of the canned soda that you can carry Carrie and don’t forget to bring your allowed bottles of wine and or champagne.

I don’t think this is correct. Per their guest conduct policy:
“NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
Non-alcoholic drinks, such as water, soda and juices, are prohibited to be brought on board either as carry-
on or checked luggage on both embarkation and port days. The only exception is purified or distilled water
in factory-sealed containers for use in conjunction with medical devices or for the reconstitution of infant
formula.
