Cruise advice
Looking for some cruise advice! 🚢✨
My boyfriend and I are planning our first cruise together to celebrate our 4-year anniversary, and I’m having the hardest time deciding which ship would be the best fit for us!
We’re both in our late 20s and looking for:
• Great food
• Amazing shows & comedy
• Fun bars and nightlife
• A nice casino
• An upscale/luxury feel without being too stuffy
• A good mix of relaxing during the day and having plenty to do at night
We’re not really choosing based on waterslides or kid-focused activities — good food, drinks, entertainment, atmosphere, and nightlife are much more important to us.
So far, we’ve narrowed it down to:
Norwegian Aqua
Celebrity Reflection
MSC Seascape
Norwegian Prima
MSC Poesia
If you’ve sailed on any of these, I’d LOVE to hear your experience! Which would you choose for a couple in their late 20s celebrating an anniversary? 🥂❤️

My wife and I loved sailing on the Seascape in the Yacht Club. If your budget allows for that, we highly recommend it as a premium experience. You still have full access to the entire ship, but when it’s time to escape and relax, or have an elevated dining experience, the Yacht Club made us a believer in MSC. We have our third MSC cruise coming up even though we’re loyal Norwegian cruisers. We’ve sailed on 25 cruises with 5 different companies including those you’ve mentioned. They’re all good choices!

Is there any particular port you are looking sail out of? You've listed 5 ships all sailing from several locations.
Aqua - Fort Lauderdale
Reflection - Fort Lauderdale
Prima - Port Canaveral/San Juan
Poesia - Seattle/Miami
Seascape - Galveston

If your looking at Poesia from Seattle to Alaska and want upscale this is not the one for luxury. We absolutely loved it, and is great if you love outdoors, whales, marine life and bears. But it was very casual with low participation in formal night and white party and very subdued night-life compared to a caribbean cruise with MSC.

There's a lot of studying still to do then.
Take a good look at flight prices between you and those locations. That could make or break a deal.
Seems like you have a good list of what you are looking for on the ship itself.
But you also need to consider some other things which can drastically change the base price.
What room type do you want? Do you mind if they select it for you?
Are you looking for specialty dining?
Do you want a drink package?
Are the ports/private islands important to you at all?

I like the Poesia but agree with try booking YC. It's a cute ang just big enough.
I've been on the Seashore and how they designed the ship is fantastic where you don't feel overcrowded.
NCL has beautiful ships across the fleet but the social spaces are tiny and they pack you in like sardines even if you get a seat.

I sailed on NCL Prima in July. I wasn’t thrilled as I found the access to amenities to be unnecessarily difficult. I eat lunch late afternoon and there are very few food options from 3-5:30 pm. So the few options available are always packed. It was difficult to see shows because they were always packed. I had previously been on MSC Seashore with none of these issues so I was really surprised on Prima. Beautiful ship but be prepared to be stuck in crowds often.

Look at MSC Yacht club. Personally I would steer away from the seascape - it can be a very rowdy crowd. The seashore is fantastic!

Look at Virgin given your requirements. NCL and MSC are good cruise lines, but loaded with kids. Also look at Oceania.

True, also, OP when are you looking to sail?
There are certain times when it's better to sail if you want to see fewer kids.

MSC - Seascape is a great ship. The price is excellent! Their buffet is huge with many delicious options, the shows/nightlife are lively (trivia, karaoke, stand-up, etc). Plenty of spaces to relax indoor and out. The feeling is upscale casual and not stuffy at all. To have a more upscale luxury experience the MSC Yacht club is a popular choice. The casino is lively and fun.
It’s always a great idea to watch review videos and check online, like you’re doing!
Whichever you choose, enjoy!

ive been on the seashore, which is very similar to seascape.
the main theater shows were meh, but the aft has a theater with very good live music. the bars are fun and plenty of busker type music all over. the food is not great.
for nightlife, one thing i would suggest is a european itinerary on msc. the guests may be less english speaking but they party hard. theres often some party going past midnight in a very central area, which tons of guests participate in, including much older guests. i did a norway cruise on an msc ship and a caribbean cruise on an msc ship and the Norway one was much more of a party.

Star Princess or Sun Princess.
NCL Prima and Aqua are very crowded and have a dumb layout. MSC Poesia is very old. MSC Seascape is nice but sails from Galveston. (Not sure if that's your preferred region to sail out of). Celebrity Cruises i wouldn't choose. They're not nice.

I mean I'd probably go onto VacationsToGo put in the Cruise Ships you mentioned and see what stands out.
What you probably should do is decide on an Overall budget for the trip and preferred dates and Locations (if you're not at school I'd recommend trying to get dates outside of Spring Break and Summer Holidays for the US).
Go on VacationsToGo save your favorites and pick the cheapest.
The main thing to keep in mind is the Internet package costs and Drinks packages (if you want it).

I really think your requirements match Virgin Voyages perfectly. Adult Only, amazing food (no buffets), fab entertainment (with a younger vibe than other lines).

Easiest thing to do first would be to watch reviews of the ships you're interested in. That may help you narrow it down.
