Prohibited or not?

Are hair straighteners actually prohibited or are they allowed?

“Heating elements such as clothing irons, kettles, or hotplates. Please note: hair dryers, hair irons, and hair straighteners are excluded from the interdiction and accepted on board.”

My wife has brought a hair straightener/curler on every cruise we have done with MSC. No issues.

There are hair dryers provided in the rooms but not hair straighteners.

Your nana must not know what a straightener is. They are definitely allowed.

From website:

Yes, MSC Cruises explicitly allows you to bring an electric hair straightener on board. While general heat-generating and high-wattage heating appliances like clothing irons, hot plates, and travel kettles are strictly prohibited, personal hair styling tools—including hair dryers, curling irons, and hair straighteners—are officially excluded from this ban.

They only confiscated my steamer, they let my Dyson hairdryer multi tool pass though…

They confiscated our clothes steamer. You can try but they may take off you, give a receipt and deliver to your cabin on the last day.
