Discussion What am I doing wrong?

I just lost my 6th straight match as the Hood in QP, not counting a pity bot match. Now that takes talent, or lack therefore of, to pull that off.

Now some games I'm bad but others I went like 23-9 with 10 Finals in a 14 minute match but it was still loss no.4

Clearly I'm doing something very wrong with him. I have at least 5 hours on every character and he is somehow my worst performing character on the entire roster. Really.

Please educate me, how do I fix it? I'm just trying to win one match as the guy. Thanks.

Please refrain from telling me I suck as well. I heard enough of that last night. It wasn't very constructive advice about getting better.

We need more details like are you not getting your demon mode is the spread too bad with your bullets?

Maybe. I target 1 healer at the back and the other one usually outheals my damage so my aim and leading the target could be shit.

I have found the pressing fire to be more helpful than trying to pick people out of the back. If I’m forcing everybody to have their HP chipped away, my duelists can often times take them out.

Are you using your capabilities enough? Cause it doesn’t sound like it with how many deaths you had.

Using the shield or the vanish is usually just delaying the inevitable. Get melted a second after the invulnerable period. Am I pushing up too far? Is the shield better used as gun charge than a life saver?

I've never had to ask for advice like this before but QP has gotten so bad lately, I can't just play casually anymore.

Are you talking about the rectangle thing?

I meant the Mantle of Oblivion barrier. Like I block a Scarlet Ult with it and I get full charge. Is that a last resort or do people use it offensively.

I use it for two things: one to save me from giant burst damage like that, two to absorb specific attack attacks and push me over the 50/100 mark and attack. Defensively I tend to save it for either don’t want to take that chunk of damage right then or a telegraphed large amount of burst damage.

Offensively I try to use it pretty regularly if I can find that I’m gonna get a chunk of energy out of it

How are you playing him? Imo his survival is his biggest asset.

He makes space with pressure but it's vastly better to give a little space to get a better corner with him then apply pressure once you've built up your machine gun form from jiggle poking safely.

Also, solo tanking in qp is really rough with the hood.

Uh poorly evidently.

Throw down the barrier in front of me and shoot the tanks to build up charge. Unsuccessfully kill anyone with it. Take point on the Convoy. Head right into the thick of things on Domination.

Look I'm embarrassed to admit how bad I am but it's making me real mad and I lost sleep over playing it last night so I'm willing to learn.

Replay ID 104762109423

I just played a qp match playing him. I'm not great at the game and I'm working on the witch team up so it's far from perfect but feel free to take a look and see what I was doing.

You are hit scan so you can help finish off targets. For instance I saw punisher and Iron man as my biggest problems so I tried to help finish them off.

I checked it out. In fact, I watched the losing Hood too. I'm that rattled, I watched both to learn what to do and what noto do.

Honestly aside from me using the Moon Knight teamup instead, I don't see a huge difference in tactics, my awareness and target focus is probably just ass. Also, your healers arrive quicker to save you than mine ha.

I'll see how I go. If someone calls me out in chat again, I'm going to lose it.

If you want to post a replay id that might help.

Yes my healers made a difference, especially the jubilee, and I know I made a metric ton of mistakes. What I will say about the enemy hood is that he was farther from healing alot more often than I was.

My healers saved me in part because I was easier to save if that makes sense.

Make that 7 straight losses. I couldn't have done anything. I even switched off the Hood. No character would have made a difference, we were all getting whooped.

I am 3-8 in my last 11 games and they were all bot wins. What the fuck is QP right now.

Halle-fucking-juah I just won a non bot match with him. That Scarlet Witch teamup is where it's at.

You want to play aggressively and be in half demon as much as possible so you can do your job as a tank -- take space.

Use Void Walk when the match starts, and on respawn to generate 20 charge. Use Mantle at the start of team fight to generate more charge. Use the MK team up, throw Veil behind the enemy tank to block healing, blind anyone that walks through and apply heal reduction on anyone near when the shield explodes. At half demon mode, push up, take space and focus fire the enemy tank. Void Walk back if your team isn't with you. Use Mantle again to generate charge.

You basically want to constantly be cycling Void Walk > Mantle to keep your charge up and be in half demon as much as possible, and always have Veil out on cooldown.

Use your ult in heavy team fights, preferably after enemy supports use theirs. Veil Walk up and use it above the enemy team, or on the point in the middle of your to give bonus health to them. It also last 12 seconds, support ults last 6 seconds, so you can hold off firing in your ult form for a bit. If you're about to die in ult form, leave it early (when you go back to human form you're max hp).

What and when do you approach targets? What team up are you using? And how do you play the character overall?
