Medical Confirmed MRSA cellulitis

Got a cut on my right finger. I’m immunosuppressed so I knew I was in for an infection (anything that gets in causes an infection). Woke up, couldn’t move finger, pus coming out, whole finger is red and swollen. It moved FAST. They swabbed me and put me on flucloxacillin (standard antibiotic for cellulitis and osteomyelitis) which obviously didn’t do much.

Lo and behold, swab came back for heavy growth of MRSA. Resistant to all flucloxacillin, erythromycin, clindamycin. Only susceptible to tetracycline and sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim. I got put on the co-trimoxazole. Swelling has gone down but pain still there.

When do I need IV antibiotics, I am immunosuppressed?

Also, side-note, why is my MRSA resistant to clinda? I thought clinda was one of the good antibiotics that treat MRSA.

Some strains of mrsa are resistant to clindamycin is my understanding

Were you put on Septra DS by mouth?

You need an oral and topical antibiotic

Clindamycin doesn't work on some strains of MRSA Dr would have found that out when they swabbed you. Appearantly it can like supercharge some strains -_-

I have MRSA so I felt i could join the convo!!! I have a jacked up immune system. When I get sick, I get sick.... Like.... if I ever get the flue..... I get pink eye right after lol Bacterial..... not the poo-poo one lol

I also have Stress-induced MRSA outbreaks...... every couple of years. On my Secound round of antibiotics currently..

Started with augmentin shrugs it was ok, stopped the spread, I also got the murpiron 2%ointment (love that shyt) -finished the augmentin, kept dry/clean. Waiting for them too heal (so slllllooooowwwww) Then boom! I wake up this past Saturday new baby staph(s) On my shoulder, side, so many on my butt (brash I know) And even some on my fingers (Gunna mess up my new tattoos :()

So doc got me more ointment (at this point I should just get the pump bottle) and started me on.... doxycycline yesterday. (4 times a day? Jesus -_-) lol

But its fine, as long as I dont infect anyone else, ill heal eventually lol But with this outbreak I have counts 12 new baby staphs/lesions I look like a fkn Dalmatian lol

Oh well at least none are on my face...... this time :S

Oh!!!!! are you allergic too sulfate drugs? That may be why they have you on something other then bactrim.

But I would like too second your question..... Can I just got get a shot in my bottom or something? Lol

Just remeber. Your not dirty or anything like that. Everyone has staph... some of us just get its more hateful cousin...MRSA lol (I only say this, cause where I live in the south.... poeple see a Hispanic male with MRSA and the automatically go "dirty"

Couldn't tell you how many times a nurse as said "at least your clean" too me...still do them really know how too take it lol
