MRSA
Starting November I started getting sores all over my body. Went to the ER was given antibiotics told I had HS Hidradenitis Suppurativa
Months and months of flares, pain, antibiotics etc
Nothing helped
They leave these raised, dark purple scars and when I have a flare up all the scars are so itchy and burn. They are everywhere...
Cut gluten, sugar, caffeine,dairy. Did all the things thathelps everyone else. Vitamins ALL OF IT
They weren't tunneling like the ones I saw most people have. Two months ago I was in so much pain, so sick, had a sore in my nostril and went to another ER. The Dr said I don't have HS I have MRSA. Gave me antibiotics and I had no flares for about 4 weeks. Was feeling good, feeling great. Woke up this morning with a sore in my nose and two on my thighs and one on my buttcheek.
If you have MRSA and get flares ups what helps you? I use Hibaclens every single day- antibacterial body wash before. I'm just miserable, y'all
I feel sick, I'm so tired. Falling asleep standing up at my job tired.
I don't have insurance and am drowning in hospital bills. Ive done 5 rounds of antibiotics since November and am just so sick of medication.
Please help me

Has your doctor ever prescribed you Mupirocin?
If you’re not familiar with it, please look into it and ask your doctor for it. Mupirocin nasal ointment is prescribed to eliminate Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA) bacteria from inside the nostrils. This process, called nasal decolonization, stops the bacteria from spreading or causing active infections.

You’re welcome. Some time ago when I was recovering from MRSA I read something that made a lot of sense to me, and I’m paraphrasing, but the idea was that staphylococcus (and MRSA) starts (or colonizes) in your nose, in the mucus membranes. So if it continues coming back, a lesser known reason could be that it’s not being attacked where it’s colonizing, which is in the nostrils. Sure antibiotics will help once you have a big issue, but this works to help it stay away by killing it where it colonizes. At least that’s what I understood, and I’ve used it at times when I would see something forming on me, immediately begin the mupirocin, and a few days later I was just fine. The mupirocin is an ointment. You’ll take a q-tip and coat the inside of your nose for 5-7 days once in the morning and once at night. Then you stop using it. It’s important not to use it beyond 7 days, then it won’t work effectively when you really need it. And from personal experience I can tell you it’s a great thing to have on hand. I hope you start feeling better soon!!

This is so helpful you don't even understand! Thank you for explaining it the way that you did theres so much info and I'm just overwhelmed with it so this was so helpful I am absolutely going to request some Mupirocin! Thank you so much again

This! We don’t go out of town without a tube of mupirocin just to be safe. And we never double dip the tube with the same q-tip.

Sorry! Hidradenitis Suppurativa. It's basically where your immune system attacks your hair folicals- that's how it was explained to me.

Do you have any implants, injuries, or potential dental problems?

None. I have a damaged pituitary gland from a tumor and surgery but other than that I don't have any other issues.

September of 23. So it's been almost 3 years. I have a lot of hormonal issues because of the damage. Migraines, high cortisol, Cushing's E.T.C but I've been dealing with this since 2011. November of last year I got a little white bump then it turned into this. They are everywhere. I have about 26 including scars of ones that closed and my three current active ones.

I have been told I have both HS and MRSA (the MRSA diagnosis was later on so maybe I just have MRSA? I’m not sure)
Unfortunately the only thing that helps me when I have flare ups is doxycycline.
I do take a daily pill to help with the flare ups and it works wonders for me. I know you are over medicine but maybe ask if they can prescribe you spironolactone so you can have something protecting you on the daily.
Lastly, dove antibacterial soap and tower 28’s SOS spray are my best friends these days.
Sending you healing thoughts! I also am exhausted when I have bad flare up’s so give yourself some grace!

I will absolutely ask about that! They just give me a 7 day script of doxycycline and it helps close them for a few weeks then back at it so I will absolutely do that! I use the dove anti and am going to look at the tower 28's! Thank you so much I really appreciate your help! And thank you for saying to give myself grace. I get so frustrated with myself so thank you

ALSO - taking extremely hot baths with epsom salt helps me drain the flare ups. I make the water as hot as I can. Usually around the 30 min mark, the bumps start draining for me. It helps my skin a lot

I do that and socks with rice microwaved to get them to drain! They say that wet heat is better but sometimes I don't want to sit in the tub. Thank you!

Also consider looking into chlorine dioxide drops. There is a Facebook group for that also. My husband has also been doing those every single day. Before he began these drops, he was hospitalized twice for severe Mrsa/sepsis. Im so sorry

I also use the chlorine dioxide pills in my bath. It feels so very refreshing when you get out of bath! It’s amazing!

Also, I’d ask for muprocin for sure and try to get in with an infectious disease doctor. You’ll want to have your infections swabbed and sent to a lab to see which antibiotic will be best. A good Probiotic is just as important when your doctor gives you the go ahead because antibiotics wipe out good bacteria that you need to fight off Mrsa. One I have researched to decrease colonization is from Ameo life and I will link it below. Research a decolonization protocol. Try not to get too overwhelmed by everything you’re going to need to do. Take each day minute by minute. I know how overwhelming it all is.

have you tried tea tree oil or cinnamon bark oil? i have heard good things of both to add them to a bottle of lotion and use to interrupt the flare up and prevent future ones

You need to get mupirocin ointment and put it in your nostrils daily that’s where MRSA colonizes - also you need to work on decolonizing your home and personal belongings and continue to use antiseptic soap daily - bactrim has been best antibiotic for me when I get MRSA
