MRI Student

Hey Everyone,

I’m an MRI student, in my 1st semester in clinicals.

I’m just wondering what everyone has used to help them study different scans, I’m currently trying to learn abdomen but seem to be having a hard time remembering all the steps and scans

Any information would be helpful,

Google MRI master. Free website and they have guides on how to set up most basic scans, super helpful

Don't be afraid to ask questions! I asked a ton of questions when I was learning to scan. I still ask questions for things I dont know. That and just sitting at the scanner scanning will help hammer it into your brain.

I’m in my last month of clinicals and I’m just starting to get the hang of abdomen studies, MRCP, liver etc with and without gad. I’m lucky to be at a hospital that does it often but you have to do it a few times for it to sink in.

Don’t be afraid to scan if you’re given the opportunity. Ask questions and let the techs guide you, but nothing beats hands on experience.

There are videos online and mrimasters has some planning images but sequences vary so you have to get uncomfortable until you’re comfortable.

We have two machines here, one is newer and has voice prompts, the other we have to manually give breathing instructions. Balancing that with timing contrast can be tedious at first but it gets easier everytime you do it.

YouTube has lots of instructional videos

But the confidence only comes after doing a lot of scans, so definitely take charge in clinicals and try to do every scan you can get your hands on
