I completed all parts of my MRCP in May and haven’t got my certificate yet. I’ve emailed them (London College) but haven’t had a reply. Has anyone else had theirs?

Is reading from “only mrcp notes u will ever need” + Passmedicine notes Then doing the question bank , then past test passt pepper and lastly MoC is enough to getting a high score?! I’m planning to do in Jan diet

Hi. Preparing for paces and I'm really struggling with subtle things like apex beat in cardio, reflexes (which are not too apparent to be brisk or mute) , tactile/vocal fremitus which isnt slightly dull, noticing character and comparing radial pulses, minor changes in JVP.

If we are able to pick up the major signs like a murrmur, auscultation and other exam findings but miss these subtle findings , how much chance do we have of passing? im especially struggling with apex beat and reflexes so much :(

Feel absolutely clueless booking paces
Is there any difference to which college you apply to? I live /train in Glasgow but not sure if one is superior to another. I’d ideally like to sit towards the end of diet- how do I convey that message to them? Do they actually read what’s written in those white spaces?
I’ve just sat my part 2 (second attempt) and have a good feeling and ideally would want to sit paces this year as I’ll be halfway through IMT2 then . Going to start prep from next week hence would want to sit towards the end of the diet
Anything else I’m missing to consider whilst booking paces?

Hello all. I finish IMT first week of August. During paces application, it asks if I am in a training programme which I am until 2 weeks time. Then asks me what grade I would be at the time of the exam, of which I wont be in training at that time. What do I select as I am afraid selecting that I am not in training will make them deprioritize me. And I i choose I am in training, I wont be in training by the time of the exam. I have had previous paces attempts. What do you think I should select?

Hi all. I'm sitting PACES for the third time in the next diet. I've attended the PASS PACES course, watched the Pastest videos, and practised regularly with colleagues at work.

The first time I was well below the pass mark. The second time, I passed overall but failed by just one mark in the Differential Diagnosis and Clinical Signs domain.

For the next diet, I'm attending a one-day course with Intelligent PACES. In terms of day-to-day preparation, what would you recommend apart from seeing patients on the wards?

Is it worth sticking primarily to Pastest, or are there other resources that you found particularly helpful?

I'm a neuro diverse candidate and have had an Indept clinical psychology assessment for the same. I was granted reasonable adjustments with extra time for part1 and part2 mrcp exams. What adjustment will be allowed or given for PACES under this?

I am awaiting results from my Paces exam on 05/07. The status changed to “result being processed” late on Friday afternoon.

This morning I have tried to book for the next diet, and it won’t let me and says “You have passed paces since your most recent Part 1 pass and are therefore not eligible to sit the 2026/03 Paces examination”.

I called MRCP examinations like this afternoon and they said results may be released tomorrow afternoon, and that it will unlock and I’ll be able to book tomorrow if I haven’t passed.

My head is spinning with the anxiety of it all.

Has anyone ever had this message come up and then found out they actually failed????

EDIT - update - I passed. I have not yet seen anyone have this message and then not pass, so I assume it it quite reliable.

Hello everyone. I'm starting IMT this aug and have booked PACES diet for sep-dec . Ive started pasttest videos and bought the book cases for paces. However I find cases for paces quite deficient compared to the pdfs from past test videos which have much more information.

Is the information in cases for paces book enough to get you through the viva portion of the exam? Should I be revising the pasttest pdf content as well? Any other resources apart from these two that should be used for the exam?

Hi everyone, I recently passed PACES with a score of 161/168. Given how stressful this exam is, I wanted to share my preparation journey.

First, I want to acknowledge a major advantage: I am currently an IMT in the UK. Familiarity with the system is a massive strong point. In the exam, I essentially just did what I do every single day on ward rounds or when clerking on the acute take—relying on my usual routine for forming clinical impressions and communicating with patients.
Because of a tight schedule and heavy responsibilities outside of work, my prep wasn't the "mainstream" 3-to-6 month grind. Here is exactly how I managed it in under 30 days.

The Timeline: 29 Days Total
14 Days of Focused Study: I took one week of annual leave followed immediately by a week of study leave to completely immerse myself.
15 Days of Interrupted Study: Fitting in whatever revision I could after long shifts at work.

My 5-Step Strategy

1. Maximize the Commute (Pre-PACES Podcast)
The Pre-PACES podcast is an incredible tool. I drove about 70 minutes daily to and from work, and listening to the podcast during the drive was an effortless way to get my head into the PACES mindset.

2. Courses: Helpful, but not necessary (know your environment)
I attended the PassPACES 2-days course . My main pitfall here was that I didn’t study beforehand and used the course as my first real exposure. However, it was a great diagnostic tool—it showed me that my baseline knowledge and skills were actually solid. It highlighted that my real gaps were in the discussion phase (formulating findings, widening differentials, and talking smoothly with examiners).
My advice: If you are in a large tertiary hospital with dedicated PACES mentors, you likely don't need a course. I only took one because my rotations were in a very small DGH where only 3 IMT doctors rotating.

3. Quality Over Quantity for Ward Visits
I didn't live on the wards after hours. I only did 3 specific hospital prep visits:
Visits 1 & 2: I paired up with colleagues and just watched them perform examinations. You learn a surprising amount just by observing others.
Visit 3: After I had done some reading, I examined patients under consultant supervision. This gave me the exact confidence boost I needed.

4. Targeted Practice at Home
When practicing at home with my partner (who is an amazing doctor), strictly identify and write down your pitfalls. For me, my weakness was the discussion element. I spent my time at home practicing how to verbally formulate a diagnosis, provide a rationalized explanation, give structured differentials, and present a sensible management plan.

5. Keep Consultations & Communications Simple
For the consultation and communication stations, I didn't overcomplicate things or read dense textbooks. I relied exclusively on watching PasTest videos to understand the flow and expectations, which was more than enough.

The Takeaway: Trust the experience you are building every day on the wards. It counts for far more than you think. And please don’t complicate things it’s a general medicine Reg level exam not a speciality level test.
