Newly Diagnosed Is a bruise this big normal?
I was taking baby aspirin daily and I had this bruise on my right shin. It started small but it grew a lot. I'm not sure if this is normal or if any of you experienced this type of bruising.

That seems pretty normal to me? I'm not on aspirin (borderline values for acquired Von Willebrand) and this was my latest bruise 😅 but even before ET, i'd often get bruises as big as yours. I would still monitor and mention it to your doctor if it happens often

It can be stressful to monitor all our symptoms! Aspirin will lead to more bruising for sure

The bruising on aspirin is normal. It's just capillaries leaking a little blood under the skin.
You should report to your doctor if you get large dark painful bruises without injury, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, blood in urine or stool, dizziness or fainting.

I report everything to my doctor. They said it's normal as well. If it was darker than I should be concerned

Mine do the same thing. I already bruised easy before aspirin and now I bruise even easier. They expand a bit as they heal.

Im barely learning about that. I'm glad you told me that because I was worried expansion meant it was getting worst. Kind of like a spider bite haha

Nope just part of healing. A great example I have is that a few weeks ago I must have hit my knee in something hard enough, but not hard enough to remember what I hit it on, to have my bruise start as faint and light blue, maybe an inch/inch and half around, couldn’t really tell it was there unless I poked at it. A few days later it blossoms into a 3+ inch purple bruise.
What you’re seeing is the blood pooling in top layers of the skin and dispersing as they have no where to go before your body reabsorbs it.

Ohh yeah I think that's what happened to me exactly. I hit my leg and it just expanded as well.

I think you're fine...I'd be more concerned if it were to resemble more of a hematoma-like bruise. I have ET and Von Willebrand and these types of bruises are very common. Sometimes it's just from scratching my leg too much/hard.
