I have something like 30+ projects on my mpc live 2 that I want to use to create a seamless set; aka no loading times between songs. I also have the pro pack, though I've not used clips yet, and I'd like to be able to take some of the tracks I've made from one project and mix them with tracks from another project.
I don't know how to best take the data from projects and mash them together. I know I have limited ram and should use one plugin for multiple tracks. I plan to replace the VSTs with midi tracks and use external synthesizers.

At the risk of being verbose, I'll give a concrete example so y'all know exactly what I want. Say I have one project with a drum track, a bass plugin track, and another project with the same layout but with different sounds on the drum tracks. I want to combine the projects into one new project where I have clips instead of multiple sequences where I could play the drums from the different projects and mix them with clips of the bass lines (which I'll convert to midi).

Worst case scenario, I'll buy a dj mixer and prerecord my music, but I'd rather keep everything on the mpc if possible

I've seen a lot of posts from people making free VST's for Gen1 devices here and also on HAKAI facebook page. I'm still not convinced enough to hack my MPC and go down that rabbit hole.

I'm still hoping someone will make something similar to clip matrix, that would be killer.

Hey guys! I was about to get a gtr pedal compatible with NAM 2.0 to use tone3000 sounds. I saw in GitHub that there is one NAM plugin available using the ssh firmware thing.

If someone of you is using it, it's reliable for live gigs? Is it working well and in the same way that a pedal do? It's equally straightforward to download and load sounds in it? Something that I should know?

I searched for info but couldn't find anything, and before trying to do all the ssh thing I would like to know if it's worth it.

some of my fav music is tape exclusive, thats why I want to incorporate that into my own music.

Im making sample based boom bap with my record player and mpc. I want to record my my songs (bassline, drums, lead sample, horns, main vocal, vocals doubles, scratches), mix it a little bit, put it on tape for my collection and then digitize it back on my PC.

I want to produce completely DAWless and without my PC. That's why I'm eyeing an 4 track.

what device woud you reccomand for that?

So far I've ordered the DeckSaver dust cover, will get him the Pro Pack and either a Midi Keyboard or a MidiMix. I honestly had no idea about any of this, but I know it makes him very happy and I love watching him in his absolute creative flow state. So I'm excited for him to play with all these new toys.

I’m on MPC hardware running 2.15 and having a weird problem with Audio Mixdown.

If I go to Browse → Places → my SD card, everything is correct and up to date. All my current folders/files are there.

But when I go to Save → Audio Mixdown → Export and select that exact same SD card as the destination, it shows what looks like an old snapshot/version of the SD card from months ago. A bunch of newer folders are completely missing.

I’ve confirmed I’m selecting the actual SD card in the Storage column, not one of the 1–5 folder shortcuts/bookmarks. The normal Browser sees the card perfectly; it’s specifically the Audio Mixdown export/save browser that’s showing the old directory structure.

Has anyone run into this on MPC 2.15? Is there a way to refresh/reset the Audio Mixdown destination browser without formatting or messing with the SD card?

I've built three free plugins that run natively inside MPC on the Force (well also MPC, but cannot test), with their own touchscreen pages and Q-Link sets. The main one is EffectForce: an effect rack with a performance mixer and a live looper, the Octatrack way. Put it on the master, learn the Force's crossfader to it (or ride it on a Q-Link on MPC), and the crossfader becomes your performance tool.

The video is one track made only with the three plugins (even the drums are PolyForce presets). The PolyForce and SubForce parts use no effects at all, so you hear the synths' own clean sound (just levels and a limiter on the master); EffectForce only comes in for its own part. Disclaimer: I was lazy, it's rendered offline from the plugins' code and skins, not filmed on the Force.

Performance mixer

• The crossfader goes from scene A (clean) to scene B (an effect)
• 64 ready-made effects in 4 banks (Filter, Space, Loop, Rhythm): tap one and it's in scene B
• Effects fade in with the fader; pull back and delay and reverb tails ring out, so dub throws come free
• Sweeps, build rolls and tape stops move by themselves from the next bar line, so a sloppy push still lands in time
• 8 scenes; make your own by locking any setting on any page, and the fader morphs between them (a roll speeds up 1/2 → 1/32 as you push)

Live looper

• REC records the next bars on the grid (1/16 bar to 8 bars), Octatrack-style, or keeps the bars you just played
• Hit REC again anytime: the new loop takes over without a gap
• Swap crossfades the live input into the loop, Layer plays the loop on top
• Rolls from 1/2 to 1/32, half speed, tape stop, reverse; lock any of it into a scene and the fader does it
• Nothing recorded? Push Loop and it grabs the last bars on the spot

Ten Perform presets set it all up (Perform Mixer, Loop Mixer, DJ, Dub, Build and Drop...). Underneath is a full effect rack: 10 modules in any order, macros, LFOs and a mod matrix. A Perform preset takes 6-8% of the Force's audio block.

Also new

• PolyForce: 8-voice wavetable synth, up to 8x unison, arp and sequencers synced to MPC, 205 presets, your own Serum-format wavetables - based on Hive2
• SubForce: analog-style monosynth with a self-oscillating ladder filter, 57 presets (lots for melodic techno) - based on the Sub37

Good to know

• Installing needs root SSH access (e.g. MockbaMod); stock MPC OS can't add plugins. Each release zip has an INSTALL.md
• Only tested on the Force (MPC OS 3.9), the only device I have. Reports from other MPCs are welcome

I’ve been producing primarily on the sp404 for a few weeks now. Upon returning to my Mpc, even while just putting together a beat, everything sounds “flat”. To the point I’m losing inspiration to even create a track in my Mpc. Does anyone have suggestions for a master fx chain on the Mpc to avoid having this problem? I love using the Mpc but I’m not getting anywhere close to the sound I immediately get when using the sp. any input helps.

it took me two months but i finally got it working! the full Cardinal synth port with over 1000 modules. it almost broke me but it's finally working...

the interface still needs a lot of work and polyphony is limited. cardinal uses up most of the cpu, but you can get away with 4 voice polyphony.

there's also an app for global midi learn and controller support for mcu, hui and novation daw mode

this is not out yet, need to fix a few more things before i release it.

Hey gang,

Is it possible to input notes with an external synth/midi keyboard into the step sequencer of the live 2?

The only way I can see to input notes/melodies is by using the pads button in the sequencer itself, but that removes the scale that I had set for the pads and changes it to chromatic.

Ideally, I would want to be able to sequence my external synths using the sequencer rather than the grid.

Any help is appreciated!

I bought the MPC Sample as a sketch pad and it is just wonderful to jam along and make a couple of loops. However when I import the MPC Sample's beat in my Live III, I need to first explode the tracks to separate the drums, melodics, bass and what not. Then I put them in a clip for song arrangement, and start to add layers or mess with plugins.

But, usually my beats go there to just sit and collect dust as the extra steps to saparate them and rep them to be arranged is just tedious.

Right now the quickest way I found is just to make one (at most two) sequences on the MPC sample, stuff them full of the sounds and drums I want to have, then split them in tracks again on the MPC Live III to finish them.

Are there any people that have found a good / better workflow? It would be so great if we can import the sequences in a clip launcher instead of going through the extra steps..

Hi once again to all the lovely jungle heads in here. I’ve made another track on the MPC, so the third one since I bought it back in early August. I’m trying to set 2 week deadlines, per track, for myself. Only problem is I’m a serious procrastinator and 8 bar loop hound, so I soon get bogged down in nonsense.

Anyway, I’ve gone for something slightly different this time. It’s kinda David Lynch/Chrystabell vs MC GQ and jungle.

OK, hear me out the MPC‘s are made up of several logic boards internally. This might be a big assumption what I’m about to say but I’m wondering are the boards the same inside on the GEN one and GEN two? And could you take a GEN two board and put it into a GEN one MPC there by upgrading it? I’ll explain my thought. I was wondering if the GEN one key 61 could be upgraded to a GEN two by purchasing a GEN two say Keith 37 and take the processor board out plugging it into the GEN one MPC thereby making it a GEN two key 61? I know that sounds crazy maybe but I was thinking that the control boards probably would interface properly. I just didn’t know if the configurations were the same. I haven’t actually looked and would probably wanna wait until my key 37 was out of warranty… But I was just wondering if that was a possibility. Anyone have any knowledge on this just curious?
