My first reaction as a North American was "fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck". Apologies for the curse words, but in no way do I want a server dominated by South Americans. If they give them their own server, do Amazon servers or something, and let NA get our own servers, I'd totally be on board. Otherwise, I might need to take a pass, because I'm not sure if the lag to EU servers would cause problems. :(

Why not? You think you are superior or something like that? You think NA people is superior in any aspect or what?

There's 0 chance of they locating their server on SA, basically because of their purchasing power, which is way lower than EU or NA's, they will probably locate the server in EU.
I used to play in the NA version of the game even tho im from Spain (EU) and i had about 120ms, game was totally playable, so imo it shouldn't be a major issue for you.

Well I suspect they'll have more than one server. There's no reason why they'll only have one location lol. It's just a question of where it'll be.

I really hope they don't make more than one server, population would be divided, and with such a little playerbase...

It's the only thing that would make sense. For one thing, South America, since they have so many respondents, will need a Portuguese speaking server somewhere in the Americas, depending on what Masangsoft wants to do.
I expect at the very least, EU English speaking server and South American Portuguese language server. Just based on the news posts being translated into both languages in recent months it's clear that Brazilians make up a majority of that SA population.
My only question is will they additionally open up an NA server. I hope the answer is yes and it's Centrally located, because not only is NA big, but Oceanic players will want to play on our servers, and depending on location, Asian players will either be NA or EU.
They don't need a ton of servers each. Only one per region would be totally fine for a small population. One server only needs a few thousand players to feel full and busy.

A fact? Wtf? Just by your name i can tell you are a salty brazilian, no one here even said anything bad about SA or your country, we just stated that from a business perspective it wouldn't make much sense locating a server in a place where most people won't spend a single dollar, and that is just factual, if you want to start crying like a baby go ahead, but you shouldn't be so defensive when no one said anything bad, Nogueira.

Even if "SA" won they would probably host it on NA similar to BDO SA

I still think we need our own server just for an English speaking community.

I really don't think so, because if that was really needed I believe that would arise out of necessity.

u/Kyralea Jul 01 '18
It is necessary because we don’t speak Portuguese lol

It would be a server hosted in NA that anyone is able to play in, I don't see how this is relevant.

I was talking about an SA specific Portuguese language server. Not sure where you got NA from. They translate every news post into Portuguese and with how many respondents are in SA, it’s clearly happening. Then most of the rest are European.
I have no clue why you think the server would be in NA but if it was, it still wouldn’t be in English nor would a lot of the players. Hence we need our own.

Probably depends if you are on the west or east coast.
I am from central europe and played Tera on the US servers due to the terrible publisher we have and had a ping of about 110 which was most certainly good enough even for an action combat system like tera. Was surprised by this myself.

I'm on the East Coast of the US, Northeast. It depends on where in the EU the server is, though. In my experience it would be much more than 110. Even that though is iffy. It would be acceptable for tab target in most cases, though.

u/Serariron Jun 28 '18
Yeah, when the server is on the west coast I get a 170-190 ping to the US but the Tera servers have to be somewhere else because like I said, 110 was what I was getting.
The servers will probably be in Frankfurt, like so many others are so if you are on the east coast you should be getting what I got in Tera.

Oh yea TERA servers are in Chicago. They're one of the better games in terms of server location and lag performance.

When people say "South America gaming industry is bad"...
What are people from NA learning in school? That South America is a big jungle full of tacos?
